  1. Paul, You can buy a halogen light upgrade kit for a normal series Land Rover and just swap the bulbs with 24volt ones. I have even used these kits on CVRTs. http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/SERIES/Electrics/Halogen_headlamp_conversion_kit_(RHD).html Chris
  2. CVR(T)s are great vehicles to restore. You can get nearly all the bits, and everything is easy enough to work on. Vince should have this one done for Beltring!
  3. And mine is even further away in Nottingham... Paul, you don't say if you want a TUL or a TUM to measure? Chris
  4. Scorpion is a tank, it can fire on the move. Chris
  5. There is aparently a drawing in one of the manuals, but I don't have it. Try asking on the EMLRA forum. Chris
  6. Simon, That would be great, I'll PM you my address. We measured up Rippos truck and what was left of mine, but they all seem to be slightly different. We've nearly finished the hardwood base frame, just got all the edges of the planks to chamfur before we can start building. I've got hold of as many whitworth coach bolts as I can find, I'd like to keep the original square nuts. Screwfix have just stopped doing those screws, luckily there was a cheap stockist on the internet so have ordered plenty. There are some pics of my donor truck here! http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?t=10384 Chris
  7. Simon, Those body photos are very useful, thanks for posting. I have a pile of wood to build a new body for mine once I get the remaining original metal work blasted. Chris
  8. Paul, Use a convertor. Plenty on ebay. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/?_nkw=24v+to+12v&_sacat=0&_fromfsb=&_trksid=m270.l1313&_odkw=12v+to+24v&_osacat=0 Chris
  9. Rick, If it is that bad that when blasted it turns to nothing, then there's not much hope! I would get it blasted by someone who knows what they are doing, before doing any repair work. The guy who does my blasting has blasted cars, planes, helicopters, even wood for film sets to make it look older than it is. Chris
  10. Rick, If you want to go one step further than the red oxide you might want to think about a zinc thermal spray coating. I work for a thermal spray company, although we do parts for aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines and spray with robots so are comparativley expensive. You should be able to find someone local who does it manually. Have a look here: http://www.t-bblasting.co.uk/zinc-metal-spraying/ Chris
  11. There were several in a scrap yard over there, I think they went over as deck cargo on ships in the 60s.
  12. Hi Steve, Welcome to the forum. What kind of paperwork can you get? Chris
  13. Clive, 277261 has been replaced by STC1141, but they are £35+Vat from Craddocks! Part Number : STC1141 FUEL FILLER TUBE ASSY 1958-84 Chris
  14. Clive, The filler tube looks like the one on my Lightweight, and not too different to the one on the Wolf. I expect it's a standard part. Chris
  15. Mark, Mine was also 1980, I didn't get any release paperwork with mine so had to get a letter with the date in service, which was 1980. Since yours was made around the same time I would expect yours to be 1980 too. Chris
  16. Mark, Join the EMLRA (http://www.emlra.org) and then get a history search done on 21HF02, this will tell you which units your vehicle was used with. I have 20HF93, which is 11 away from yours! See attachment for what you get back from the EMLRA. Chris History - 20 HF 93.pdf
  17. £162000 seems like a lot of money, but how much is a top of the line Range Rover, Ferrari or a Bentley? Enough people buy these cars to make it worthwhile making them, so there are people with that kind of money to spend out there. (Or at least there used to be untill recently!)
  18. They have so much stock they can't list every single item. Something like the Pig is a one off, which is why they put no effort into selling it and stuck it in the tender sale. They'd rather spend the time selling Bedfords in 50s or 100s or selling some plant for £35000.
  19. They don't list much of the stock on the website.
  20. Matt, There was a different generator panel for the single speed, but it was never fitted to Ferrets. I think it would be easier to put the system back to how it was intended, replace the single speed generator with the 2 speed. I'd have a look inside first and make sure it's all ok, otherwise see if you can get a specialist to look at it. You can get the 2 speed generators and panels quite easily if you need replacements. Chris
  21. Duncan, that's a sky blue engine, although the paint is faded. Lee, could it be that the engines were dyno tested with a specific set of ancillaries, which were then removed and put on the next engine? The J60 EMERs have a section on dyno testing where the length of time at certain loads is specified. My reconditioned J60 (done in 1997 I think by a place in Grantham) started and ran straight out the box. Sounds like that B80 was a bit of a lemon?
  22. 24V chargers are expensive, I wouldn't bother. The best thing you can do is not let the batteries go flat. Remove a lead when not in use, or fit a cut off switch.
  23. The equipment on the back of that Dodge looks very different to the tanker on the MW.
  24. Hi Matt, Which generator and panel do you have fitted? It sounds like you have a single speed generator connected to a 2 speed panel? Chris
  25. Hi Ben... You already know me and my Sabre. Chris
