  1. Never heard of one before and im not an arty expert but those wheels and tyres look suspiciously llike Land Rover ones R
  2. Doug, watch the video link I posted. . . it shows you everything and there is a nice little man explaining as well, all for free!! R
  3. Dont laugh, but that could still be in service today. There are some down at Instow in Devon with what used to be called ATTURM. I think someone from this forum laid a spanner on them a few years ago and dieselised them. R
  4. Ruxy, I highly doubt the Warner socket comes close, last production vehicles they were used on would be series 2A Land Rovers, me thinks. R
  5. Sean N, You have exactly defined my intention, yes correct Sir. R
  6. Chris, what was the last vehicles those headlights were used on? My bet would be. . . hmm let me think. . CVRT? I think im nominating you as NCO i/c headlamps as you seem to CHAMPion them! R
  7. Because the far or "AWAY" side (for those Gun Run fanatics) is not down on the ground it looks dramatic. Once the far side gets on the ground the beam is "relieved" and then the components get taken across on it. Think some kid who grew up with meccano on the drawing room floor figured out this one. There is a video of it deploying somewhere if my memory serves me right. Ah yes here you go kids:- R
  8. Oi! ref last picture what is that small fabricated item on rear vertical armour where the licence plate light should be??? Is that the shop foreman inspecting your work or unpaid assistant or you? R
  9. Rover, if you are the seconder for the light then find out when first used and last production used, think you will find items like the horn go back to second war whereas that light doesnt. . . R
  10. somehow i would like to say it is within bounds, but then we could say the same perhaps for a 24 volt headlight bulb as the bulb is a part of a complete headlight as the U joint is part of a complete shaft assembly. So if you follow that far it kinda means its out of bounds as it is a sub component not a whole "part" as was the intent of the usage of the word "part" Get my drift? Sorry to spoil your endeavours R
  11. Thank you Ruxy for sorting that straight for me! The relief valve Andy mentioned is ok for this list. As far as the belts, its kinda sketchy to be within what im aiming for. R
  12. Not really, kind of looking for a readily identifiable component, that has remained unchanged. I may be proved wrong yet though. R
  13. Found it, wasnt Clive but Richard Farrant. See here http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?21944-Slave-cable-polarity R
  14. Paul I asked the same question a while ago. Think Clive responded to me. R
  15. Thanks for that, I will give them a call and see what turns up. R
  16. Ladies and Gentlemen, Before anyone shoots off a "not a problem" reply, bear in mind we are in Canada. There is virtually nothing Land Rover parts related out here. Our 1987 90 has a sick injection pump, the gearbox has lost syncro in 1st and 2nd. It leaks diesel like a garden hose and gear changes are crunchy at best. Like all 2.5 na diesels it was never a speed demon. What should our game plan be to freshen the vehicle up and make it useable again? Who should we consider buying parts from direct from UK? It is a clean tidy truck otherwise and we would like to keep originality and not drop a TDI into it. R
  17. Lacks attention to detail, no zimmerit R
  18. Dear Mr Gamekeeper, Speaking from past experiences buying direct from MOD sales agents Withams at Colsterworth I would caution you that there are other people who will take care of you better. With the best will in the world everything we have bought from Withams could have been prepped a bit better. Buy a vehicle from someone like Crouch Recovery as he will do as you ask and get the vehicle gone over thoroughly. Crouch has a good name from all remarks made here. There are plenty enough of them around to make it a buyers market. I would have thought that a Bedford might just be a tad too big for the job and have a turning circle of a pregnant whale when out in the boonies. There are conflicting report on the RB44 vehicles coming out, if I read through the haze correctly thay are a step up from a Land Rover and would likely do the job quite well. I have not ties to Withams or Crouch. My 2 cents worth R
  19. Paul, Mario is Mario Alliperti aka Blobby. He is a long time MV lunatic of the Heavy Brigade. He is a very pleasant gent who let me sit on the roof of that truck way back in 96 or 97 and ride around the arena at Beltring. Tony aka M109a3 on here knows of him Fond memories R
  20. Hanno, what does you PS to Joris in your native tongue mean???? R
  21. Finally someone has had a look at that! R
  22. Yep, them be them Chris! Guess I should have thrown up a link myself, sorry to make you work! R
  23. Chris, I dont go anything earlier than Series 1 Land Rovers and Ferrets, so it must be over to the WW2 boys for their input now. R
  24. Tony, may I offer my heartfelt condolences. A sad way to come to own such a vehicle. Robin
