  4. cosrec I would enjoy and benefit from reading what you post, so please go ahead and post your method. I find your posts clear, well laid out, safe and easy to understand and expand my knowledge everytime I read them. As I am a property manager on a large estate with many pieces of equipment I have occasion to be involved in recovery, plus working in a rural area we are the largest equipment user for quite a ways and often get other islanders (yes we are on an island) come seeking our help in sorting out their problem. Unless I figure it is a safe and sure thing I always politely decline to assist but pass on 2 local recovery company numbers from my phone. Other aspects of my job are liability management and PR for the owner and the property I represent. There is a fine line between being lauded as the local good guy on the island and being landed in court for wrecking a vehicle or causing further damage to a vehicle, We are not insured to do such work especially in a public area. I have declined a number of recoveries only to have the poor unfortunate person come apart at the seams and berate me and call me every name under the sun. They have eventually be recovered by professional recovery truck and most have the good graces to come back over time and apologise for their hissy fit and understand me refusing. Thank you for taking time to educate the rest of us on what is a highly skilled trade that you do. Robin
  5. So to follow what your saying they had Scam mast on the roof that unfolded into the vertical and were pumped up? Guess these were the ones that were sold recently at Withams on their own ie they had been raped from the vehicles and sold off separately? R
  6. A tad off original topic but acceptable in the same vein. Irish CVR(T) Scorpions live firing Something went wrong... R
  7. Warrior and CVRT live fire on range Something went wrong... and also Something went wrong... Scimitar live fire in Afghanistan Something went wrong... R
  8. As you might know Im stubborn, a mule is positively pliant by comparison. Somebody must know what it means. R
  9. Welcome to the forum, lots to enjoy here, do post some pictures of your in service time. R
  10. what does the "SCRA" part of the title mean for this vehicle? How many were made? Who did they serve with? From when to When? Were they a Clansman vehicle then upgraded to Bowman? Thanks R
  11. So Im guessing in a pinch we could make our own grey box if they are not available as an FV part number. R
  12. if the popularity of you tube videos continues on here then we may have to change the forum name. . . . . R
  13. Sub zero temperatures do the same to many of our vehicles, hence my desire for more heated storage. Wheel cylinder rebuilds a common occurence on a yearly basis because of it. R
  14. Thanks for the info, I do not recognise that grey boy in the first pictures as anything we have in stock, so there is a problem right off the bat. I will have to delve into the vehicle and see what I can find. Im going through the same process for the Stormer as well, as driver to commander comms is a safety issue in my mind. Thanks R
  15. I just wanted to follow up on this issue, I have been delayed because the person I wanted it for also lurks on this forum so didnt want to give the game away. Because Lee aka safariswing posted the wikipedia link and the IWM ownership was shown there I was able after a tortuos navigation of the IWM website, let me tell you there are many levels and areas to search within and from, place an order for a copy of the picture by email of a resolution that my local photo store could print a good sized print from. The whole deal was fairly painless money wise, I think we paid around 5 quid and had the image within a few days. I would highly reccomend the process. R
  16. Andy, I am in touch with vintage manuals already, he is a good bloke and gets back to you within a reasonable time frame and tells you exactly what you are buying. Looks like I will be buying quite a package from him so far, just about to finalise order. Thanks R
  17. Clive, so would AC 44618 basic harness be the best one to buy as we only want to do an intercom set up? R
  18. Welcome Keith, are you planning on buying something that you are familiar with or are you here to look around? Many of us would love to see any in service photos you have of vehicles and or kit or plant from your days in service. Were you a plant operator? R
  19. I would like to fit Clansman intercoms to our 432. Which manual ie name and number and description should I be looking for at a manual supplier? I would like one that shows how and where to wire in and mount the various boxes. Ours is a Mk2/1 Bowman fit but would like to back date to Clansman intercom as we have it in stock. R
  20. We tapped the holes and bought some bolts and washers and broke open the "goo" and filled all the upper surface holes and gave it a lick of paint. Now that is done we will "dry" / dewater the inside of the void and then treat with rust preventer, likely we will tap and plug the drain holes but still not sure of that or how we will do that. I'm thinking it should be vented but an inverted U shape so it can breathe and not drip down the side. Here is a photo of the result so far. R
  21. Maybe Steve Shirley will sell his TACR1 to you? Welcome, you cant be all bad if you like Ferrets and Land Rovers! R
  22. Welcome to the forum Andy, you obviously have a lot of experience seeing as how you are working on the Conqueror. I look forward to seeing more of the work your involved with R
