  1. Here's another Scammell Pioneer pic " INVINCIBLE " over at Normandy this June , pictured with myself is DDay veteran Richard Jones from Shropshire who had just laid a reef at the memorial at Baron-sur-mer . The Scammell is owned by Mick Price from Wolverhampton who invited me to join him and be co driver on the trip from his home all the way to the beaches at Normandy ,and what an experience it was, having never driven a machine like the Pioneer before it was in at the deep end and what good fun it was, even at those high speeds 23/24mph, after covering several hundred miles the old girl never missed a beat! what great British engineering !! One of the highlights of the trip was being lead in a 120 vehicle convoy escorted by French police m/cycles from the port to the M.V.T campsite near Port-en-Bessin , the Scammell was certainly the star on all the parades we did..
  2. Here's a pic of Simba AFV , Its the only one in the UK the rest are battling it out in south east asia! cheers Warrior.
  3. What sort of tire pressures do you chaps with lwb jimmy's use, currently I have 50psi in and my truck is a real hard ride on the B roads :wow: Cheers Warrior.
  4. Started out doing it in a field about 18 months ago, alright till the autumn comes, thankfully I have a good MV mate who lets me use his workshop, got a couple of other MVs dotted about in other places, have to keep hiding them from the other half, she'd sooner have a new kitchen than a green thing with smelly canvas. :-D
  5. No problem, because the roof lining is made of thick fiber board and it is two pieces, they roll it up and post in a tube. can't remember the cost, you should be ok for import duty.
  6. Hi Tony Got the roof lining from the states, go to http://www.oldcchevytrucks.com, on the menu go to 34-46 truck parts, they call them headliners over there, part no up2071 35.5 dollers comes in two pieces,ok Cheers Warrior

  9. Hi Vulture Here's a couple of pics of my truck, found it in some woods a couple years ago with no body, repaired cab waistband and door bottoms, found a body for sale in yorkshire, had to replace stake pockets, put new valves in head, s'steel exhaust, new canvases, now saving up for some petrol, lots of small jobs still to do, seem to take twice as long as they should do! warrior:-)
  10. HI ALL Nearly ready for road testing my gmc project, i need to change engine and gearbox oils, what oil and grade do you chaps recommend? morris oils seem popular. Cheers Warrior:cheesy:
  11. HI ALL Needing a new exhaust system for my 353, heard that a chap called rex ward sells a stainless steel system ( sounds expensive!) has anybody fitted one , and what are they like?? is it possible to still get mild steel systems anywhere? Cheers All Warrior.
  12. The answer is no, there no counter balance on the front of the truck. there is structure called the slide frame which extends out on a rack and pinion gear drive to nearly the length of the truck again the two hydraulic stabilizers come down ,also the crane behind the cab acts as counter balance, here is another pic of the bridge going out  ,
  13. Hi All yes the able weighs nearly 40 tons kitted out , but still very good cross country, its 8x8, diff locked front to back and across , turning circle is pretty crap though, its caught me out a couple of times driving on public roads around the black country , here's a pic of the first stage of a bridge launch , 56m ,a bit of a load on those rails what!
  14. Had to load this beast this morning, only just fits on ! the truck is a unipower br90 able bridging vehicle ,cheers warrior :cheesy:
