Adam Elkins
Anyone on here know of a easy way of removing a runflat insert. My local commercial tyre fitters say you need a special machine. There must be a way to DIY.
0 Marmite!!
If it's a Hutchinson insert (Fox CVR(W) ) then you do need a machine... no one has one... if Ferret, Saracen, Pig etc... then just levers...

0 sirhc
They will need to be big levers. I use some approx 1m long to get them out of Ferret rims. Chris

0 AndyFowler
I used one metre bars to remove it and a bottle jack to push it in after new tube fitted ! My mate had one done at a commercial tyre fitters and after giving it the big un and saying of course we can do it ! It took three of them to do it and they told him not to bring anymore to them ! :-D Hopefully no blood or tears Adam but lots of sweat ! Good luck ! 0 Adam Elkins
I thought about two vehicles one with a strap around the tyre, and one with a strap around the insert, then drive away from each other. just a bit worried it might split the rubber. 0 LeeEnfield
staying with the theme of runflats,.............I've picked up a wheel for my Bedford, with knackered 900x16 tyre which has a funflat insert,................am I right in thinking I can use rim without runflat and a normal tubed tyre ?? 0 Adam Elkins
I will have to have a look at that. Thought it mite work with loads of tyre soap. Reffiting will also be a problem or is it easyer?

Andy Think so all you need is a rubber band around the rim, to stop the tube rubbing.

0 LeeEnfield
I did the same on my Humber Armoured Car without any problems. Cheers,.............now all I've got to do, is soak the bolts is something penertrating for a while, to stand ANY chance in getting rim split.
0 Tony B
A bit of diseil and old engine oil. Mucky but works very well. Stick old rags over the nuts and pour on and leave.
0 Adam Elkins
The rims on the pig came apart as if they were new, a little WD 40 is all that was needed.
