LeeEnfield
Looking for pic's, dimensions etc for signposts/place names, that would have been in place within Antwerp, esp the docks area 1944. Any pointers towards this, gratfully recieved. Cheers, Andy.
Tony B
Does this mean a diorama or renactment coming up?

Rick W
3 pics from Antwerp 1944, one from Nieuport, street signs should all have the same font in Netherlands I believe. Where's Joris? http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o72/rik242_2006/83230a.jpg[/img] http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o72/rik242_2006/aan651.jpg[/img] http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o72/rik242_2006/belgium_canada.jpg[/img] http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o72/rik242_2006/belgium_ssask.jpg[/img]

Tony B
Maybe, but Antwerp and the area round Villisgen are well worth the visit. there is also a great camp site that will take Heavy military vehicles, Rennie does expect Viz magazines and beer as an extra bribe though. :-D http://www.mmvg.net/ Have a look at the galleries
Joris
Signposts in Belgium are not, I repeat, not the same as in the Netherlands! Since the Belgians left us they tried very hard not to be like us...

Since the Belgians left us they tried very hard not to be like us... Umm, how come then when I try out my few words of Flemish, like to be able to say at least hello and thank you, in certain parts of Belgium I get dirty looks and replies in Dutch? As for French , well I am supposed to be English so its tolerated. If even the Belgium's don't know how the place works, what chance have the rest of us? Still like both Belgium and Holland though. :-D Especially as you have the only airport where a naval battle was fought and , if not touching a raw nerve, the only naval fleet at sea captured by cavalry. LeeEnfield
Soooooo, how would Antwerp, for example, when as a sign post/board, be displayed, Spelling, etc; I've been going through my books, ......and (so far) drawn a blank........
Joris
The languages Dutch and Flemish are very much alike but the Flemish television always subtitles our shows when they are aired in Flemish-speaking Belgium :?
Tony B
Andy , I'd suggest you look through the German propaganda pictures, they seem the best bet. The Allies seemed to busy to take pictures before 1944.

Aye, Tony;........that seems to be true; So far, found pics of signs in France, Italy etc, but not anything Netherlands based, (except Arnhem.)
