GTB MAN
We require ( starter motor. Generator . Carburettor. Inlet manifold. Oil lines. ) I been told some engines require a new head.? We had a MB numbered engine so was ok. Fly wheel is ok but no centre bush. The tub is a Hotchkiss. Had the engine checked by jeep specialist comments like new all standard. So we’ll worth all the extra parts. T CORBIN
earlymb
Yes, Willys blocks used in generators usually have a low-pressure head (Marked 'INDUSTRIAL') which will need to be replaced, along with the manifolds and possibly the ignition (not sure). ferretfixer
A word of advice! If you are using the original carter carb from the Gennie engine. check inside, the rod that moves inside the main jet on a Gennie carb. IS MUCH LONGER than a Standard metering rod! This acts as a Govenor to prevent over revving! I discovered this back in the eighties, when I fitted a NOS Carter from a Gennie engine. To a standard Willys I owned back then. Started & ran fine, Until you jumped in a drive it! You couldn't get above 2nd gear in it! 😄 Back to the garage & exchanged the metering rod with the one from my original carb. & all was well again! 😉
GTB MAN
Thanks for all your input. I have put a good recon Carter on it . The geny carb all the linkage was wrong & lower part was smaller . I had the head checked & lgnition checked. Both ok .It runs great . But not been driven yet.
