AlienFTM
A training round which enables automatic function without the need of a blank-firing adaptor to force gases through the working parts and push the spring back? When the round fires, the piston extends, pushing against the face of the breech creating the impulse to recock the weapon. Perhaps?
Bodge Deep
some kind of smoke/grenade projector

Stormin
I'm with Alien FTM! I was thinking an automatic firing blank, but couldn't have described it as well as he did.
Bazz
in a way I think that my training round and Aliens go together as a LV round the "piston" would supply enough umph to assist with recyling the weapon. Barry.
morris c8 fat
:-D Its easy in this time of defence cuts so much money is used up on the ranges now all you do is lay in front of the target and a big felt tip pen hits it when you fire aka a protracting pencil. Ill get my coat! :-D

BUT in this case it is not gas. With-out giving to much away the projectile is housed with-in the piston. the rest is just a standard round. Saw somthing on the lines of a spring loaded spike that would shoot out the barrel and stick a paper target :dunno:

Tony B
So it's a military paintball. Well you can't kill the enemy, that deprives them of their human rights. :shake: Unless they are the rounds used with the new Bluetooth trainers ( I kid you not) The weapon is wired with a bluetooth transmitter. As you run round or in video the round gives realistic recoil, but each shot is plotted on a blue screen by computer.
david052
Yeah, but isn't the fundamental problem of low power training rounds that they have different angles of trajectory from normal rounds thereby only dealing with some of the issues of training? But it seems odd to me, as the return of the breech block would be hindered by the length of the (spent) round, unless you have reloaded the piston? Something like a rifle grenade ignition round? yogi
Well done Tone, yes it is a military paint ball. The Army have been useing them quite a lot up at Cope hill training village (FIBUA). The percusion cap hurts like hell when it hit you and the paint washs of easly. This is cheaper than DFWES.
