On this. Sorry for the poor picture. The background is a piece of canvas done by the Farther of the guy i get my bits off. He ended up as an RA Seargent. There is also a Royal west Kent badge in there. I would especially like to know the Div sign and any info on the place names. Thanks all.

Tony, have you tried just putting the place names in search? As I'm sure you know they were all famous battles. Unfortunately although I've read a number of very good books on the subject I don't remember any titles. Have you tried your local library?

Hi Tony, your pic stirred my interest, the div sign is the Golden Arrow insignia

of 7th Indian Div, all the regt's listed on the pic except the 3/6 Gurkhas are shown in the order of battle lists I have found for the Div but the lists are not necessarily complete. There is no reference to the Royal West Kents but

I seem to remember they were mentioned in a book about the Kohima siege.

I dont think 7th Indian Div were directly involved in the siege at Kohima but

may have been involved in fighting for the relief of Kohima and then the subsequent advances which culminated in the clearing of the Japs from the whole of Burma. Hope this helps and I will be very interested to hear of

anything you discover about the pic.

Under the words "The Fighting 500" is written 136 Field Regiment RA (TA), this unit was formed up from the 1st Bn. West Lancashire Regt TA in 1939 when they were in 55 (West Lancs) Infantry Div.

In March 1943 they were in the Armednager area of India,

then in April, the Ranchi area.

In May 43 they were in the 7th Indian Div in India.

Sept 43, 7th Indian Div moved to Burma

Nov 43, they were serving under 5th Indian Div, in Burma

Jan 44, back with 7th Indian Div in Burma

March 44 with 89 Indian Inf. Bde in Burma, in June 44, this Brigade went to India, then in Dec 44 back to Burma.
