Jack Posted November 11, 2005 Share Posted November 11, 2005 The soft cab for me. I just adore the look and the practicalilty of them most of been wonderful for the armies using them. Also the open type cab is wider than the closed by about a foot, I have a closed cab rubber mat in my open cab and it is short of each side by about 6 inches. You can get 3 adults in the open cab if you are friendly dont thnik you could do that in the closed cab and get the doors shut !!!!!!!! Lawson Posted September 2, 2007 Share Posted September 2, 2007 well i have a closed cab but i love them both..both have there advantages..soft cab has more room and is nicer in on hot days great for mv enthusiasts as thats when they are driven mostly in nice weather...however with the front window open on my closed cab theres a lovely breeze that keep you cool even on the hottest of days.. and you never get hungery as there always lots of flys to eat on the way...but they both look cool tho i think closed and open cabs as all jimmys do....but having said all this if i had to go to war and drive one on a daily basis it would be a closed cab for me every time cos its lovely and cosy in my cab when its pouring with rain and cold outside..and jack did look quite cold and wet on the way to the purbeck rally lol... :shake: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

abn deuce Posted September 6, 2007 Share Posted September 6, 2007 Check out the Closed cab convertion to open in "Wheels and Tracks" issue #22 on pages 31 and 34 to get that closed/open cab look just right !!! abn deuce Posted June 4, 2009 Share Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) Each design has something going for it ,while the closed cab is warmer and dryer in rain and winter but noisier out on the road at speed and bit less head room and can be locked , the open cab has more shoulder and head room and better ventilation in the summer and in parades , it doesn't seem as noisy as there is less metal around you to bounce it off of . To me the open cabs of all Military Vehicles just look right , the closed cabs reflect more of the civilian origins a conversation and not a purpose built design. here's a longer ride along in a open cab CCKW Something went wrong...
