Ian L
Hi Guys we all know paint flakes off Galvanised steel, so how should it be done and what products have you used ? I've checked it out on the internet & no I'm not interested in Hammerite paint, any advise please. :undecided:
HotBed
google Barn Paint made by Bedec, fantastic stuff, i have used it on wood, brick, concrete and galvanised steel, but when you use it on that let it weather for 6 months, i get mine from Brewers paint shops there are other outlets though regards
N.O.S.
Google Mordant Solution (often called T Wash). Water consistency, sponge or brush on, dries within minutes and dulls galvanised surface to a dull black colour. Paint as soon as dry. Have used it on new galvanised steel with two coats synthetic satin enamel, brilliant!

nick disjunkt
I've had good sucess using an etch primer. It is a very thin, one coat primer that etches the surface enough for any topcoat to stick to it. It is specifically deisgined for non-ferrous metals and galvanised steel. Mordant solution is just as good but at least if you buy a tin of etch primer, you can use it to prime aluminium and other metals. I use this one: http://www.firwood.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10601&storeId=10001&productId=26278&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=12253
Scammell4199
I use etch primer on everything, sticks like s*@t on a blanket. Although i use the Tetrosyl product. Good luck, Richard
