Paul Drake
Hello all, Does anyone have, or can point me in the direction of detailed dimensional drawings of the following MoD(Army) or Army Department railway wagons? Ramp wagon. This is attached to trains, to allow loading/unloading of vehicles from flatcars where there is no platform loading facilities. One end has a detachable bogie. I do not know the prefix for this type of wagon. It has two axles. Warwell. This is a four axle wagon with a well in the middle and curved sloping ends. The specialist prefix may be KWA, KWB, or similar. SALMMS 90. This is a six axle flat wagon designed to carry Challenger MBT, I do not know if it has been in production. I am asking for detailed drawings so a model supplier can manufacture some, he has photos of ramp wagons and warwells, but needs detail to do a professional job. Thank you, Paul. NigeP
I may be able to find something. I'm not sure about how detailed they are though, but it may be a start. All I've got to do is find my manuals from the 80's. Nige

Good find, however, wrong wagons. The modern ramp wagon is designed to put Challengers onto SAlMMS90. It is different in dims to the one you have linked to. None of the older ramps were rebuilt, although some were saved from scrapping. Warflats were unable to take Challenger, hence the leasing of DB SALMMS90. Paul, There are 2 (I think) modern ramp wagons in the UK. They were placed for unloading armour at Caerwent and Haverfordwest. Whether they are still there, I don't know. They have to be moved by road as they are built to UIC loading gauge. I'll have 2 find my Rail Training Pam and Taschenwagenbook (Guterwagen) for the dims. I probably have the STANAG for the Ramp and modified Warwells with insert somewhere as well. Nige
