modello Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Dear friends ! I have decided to join this Forum, because I consider, this Forum does great deal saving history, historical technics and inventory, and memory itself about honourable past times. I believe Your site unites true fans of beautiful old vehicles. I support Your with all my heart. My name is Eduard, I am 39 y. o. and I work an electric engineer. My interests are: - military vehicles of WW2 period (tanks, armoured cars, and - especially - trucks and cars). Any materials and information about those "wheeled soldiers" are interesting for me - technical descriptions, images, plans, design history, versions and variants, their using, etc.; - world aviation (both - military and civil, from the period from the Twenties until Today); - scale modelling (1/72 scale military vehicles and aviation). I shall pleased to have exchange by opinions, some information, materials and data, and have contacts with Forum members, MV owners and restorers, and all admirers and fans of those WW2 "iron chariots". Best wishes to all, Eduard.:-) Quote

modello Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 you can give us information on russian vehicles and their use and the location of any old t34 and su100 in your local scrapyard OK, Eddy ! Most part of Russian T-34s and SU-100s was: 1) Supplied in different countries of the World. 2) Used as targets on army firing ranges and polygons. 3) Scrapped in the Sixties - the Eighties. And those scrap-yards were situated far away from our town - for example, in Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk and other towns, where the metallurgical plants were situated. 4) Used as basic chassis for some special vehicles for military and civilian purposes. 5) Used as monuments - over 400 examples in different towns in Russia and some other coutries. 6) Used for filming purposes and parades - I think, there are up to one hundred such "parade" tanks. Some types of Russian tanks - like IS-4 and T-10 heavy tanks - were scrapped in the Nineties. Now more modern types - T-54, T-55 - are begin to cut. Regards, Eduard. Quote

modello Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 I consider, the life in Russia is quite normal - especially at present days, when many people can be engaged in what they want (instead of in what the authorities earlier - during old regime - forced to be engaged). And with the Internet we can search and find friends and adherents worldwide, exchange with the information, and so on. My area of life is Ural Federal District. Eduard. Quote
