Ferret welding

Grasshopper

Question

My ferret rear deck hinges came pre-snapped where somebody (I guess) has prized the decks up against the seized hinges. Can these be easily welded back onto the decks or is a special method required?

One of the front tow points also came pre-broken but that was mig welded back on by my "man with the mig". It wasn't self inflicted like Topdog's!

Ah yes, the standard broken hinges... mine had these too, it's fairly common. I ended up buying a complete engine deck which was dry stored and so perfect, but the guy who had my broken ones welded them up ok so it is possible.

Thanks chaps.

Its about time I re-learned how to weld! Did it at college but have done more brazing and soldering in my career so far. There was always someone better at welding to do stuff. Got a few bins to patch up, but also have 2 brand new (still in crates) bins to fit (eventually).

Hi Vince,

On the armour you should use Nickel Chrome rods.
