David Ives
has anyone ever done this or know how you would go about changing normal sankey trailer brakes on rods to air brakes or is it even possible:cool2::tup::
0 Richard Farrant
has anyone ever done this or know how you would go about changing normal sankey trailer brakes on rods to air brakesor is it even possible:cool2::tup:: David, Those trailers have overun brakes as normal. I don't think the trailer is heavy enough to warrant full air braking, what will happpen is that the trailer will brake as soon as the lorry does, instead of how it is now, where it brakes after the lorry brakes, by overun action. That is my view anyway, others might disagree.

0 robin craig
I would ask why? If you are loading it with more weight than it was specd for and feel that you need to stop it better wont your friendly VOSA people lock you away? Frankly I would think that you are going to have to do some interesting conversion work. Have you thought of electric brakes? What vehicle are you pulling it with, that would be a help. 0 Markheliops
Wouldn't bother David - The Bedford MK / MJ has plenty of weight to stop the trailer. Wouldn't have thought you would need uprated breaks on the cooks trailer. A lot of work / expense for no reason. Markheliops
0 sabre
I was thinking to tow the cooking trailer behind the Leyland DAF, but with the comms body coming over the flatbed, this is impossible. The "towing frame" of the trailer is to short to take the turns.:-( The series will have to take the trailer...
