Great War truck
The sound of the guns in France during WW1, heard from London? Crikey Richard, that was quick. Yes, quite correct. But to win a Mars bar (from Jacks Christmas variety pack) I need a bit more information. What is relevant about that particular recording. Edited November 1, 2009 by Marmite!! I seem to think I have seen this before, and it fits well with your interest in WW1. As for the last question...........only a guess, recorded on a disc perhaps, for the first time, wax cylinders prior to that. A Mars bar.........oh thanks, that is more than I get from guessing Clive's Mystery Objects  Edited November 1, 2009 by Marmite!! Great War truck
Yes, you got it right Steve. It is the moment the guns fell silent at 11:00 on the 11th day of the 11th Month. That particular strip of recording represents just 6 seconds of time. Good guess though Richard. Edited November 1, 2009 by Marmite!! Old Bill
So what are we actually looking at? It looks like film or is it a seismograph trace on paper? Steve Edited November 1, 2009 by Marmite!!

Tony B
It is a sound ranging device tape. The two peacks just after the silence are supposedly an American soldier firing two pistol shoots. Edited November 1, 2009 by Marmite!!
