Any tips for canvas care?

Hello All,

 

Would anybody have any advice on the best line of defence against the onslaught of mould on canvas.

 

I had to put my tents away damp a couple of weekends ago, yesterday I finally got to sort them out and air them. First day that we had decent sun and have been busy moving house!

 

The tent bags have been affected the worst, they have the dreaded white mould on them, but the canvases seem to have escaped with only minor marks.

 

Is there any products out there to 'kill' the mould. was going to steam clean the bags and re-waterproof them.

 

Any suggestions?????

There are several treatments available from Saddlers for New Zealand rugs, and 'patio funiture' type things . Good old Thompson Water Seal is very effective.

Thompson's water seal for me, done all my tents with it and cheaper than 'proper' canvas waterproofers.
