  1. From what I remember the seats in Glynns CS8 were made when I had the truck (unless they have been changed since then) Them and the canvas cover for the body were made by a firm in Preston The seats were made to an original pattern
  2. Suggest you have a look on the Land Rover Series 1 forum (LRSOC Forum) and the Series 2 club forum. Lots of good advice and tips on there
  3. Bob I can also remember in Kendal (Westmorland at the time) when I was still at school. We were always interested in old vehicles and I think I had the cheek as a 15year old to call in and ask the garage (a Rootes garage if memory serves, now demolished) if it was for sale!! There was also another garage in Kendal with an early 15cwt Ford (aeroscreen and no doors) being used as a breakdown Happy Days
  4. The owners name is Crossley so who knows Great looking things, really nice to see proper army lorries :nut:
  5. Saw these two beauties at the Border City Steam Fair To have one Crossley must be good, but to own two!!!!
  6. In 1926 GUY supplied the British Army with a rigid 6 wheeler with a double drive rear axle (probably based on the WD rear axle set up) that fully articulated. This was the BAX model. FBAX stood for the forward control BAX. They were produced up to 1940 Dont really think the letters meant anything than a model number
  7. If the NOS ones are OK I suggest you use them and use a product called "Wellseal" apply the product to both sides of the gasket allow to dry (5-10 mins) and then assemble Pull head down, run till hot retorque and then retorque after 500 miles (cant remember the torque figures)
  8. We will be there with a S1 land rover (107 stationwagon) Looking forward to seeing the RFC Tender
  9. It is fairly common knowledge that Land Rover produced some 4x2 versions of the Series 1 for the services to use as Utillity Cars The question is does anybody have any evidence of these being built on 1959 series 2 chassis?
  10. Safety chains are fitted to ALL fith wheel couplings if they are not fitted with an inbuilt safety clip. Even then some of these have a safety chain and dog clip fitted (belt/braces/second belt). Failure to use the device is a PG9 offence. We fit dog clips and chains to most of our self locking fith wheels so that if VOSA see the vehicle is fitted with clip and chain we dont get a tug
  11. Scary but true!!!! Driver has to have completed initial driver cpc Really looking forward to taking out 18year olds in a 44 tonner!!!!! Dont think it wil happen in my outfit
  12. We will agree to differ then!!! Any training of good quality must have a value The initial qualification (for new drivers) must be an advantage , we might have drivers coming into the industry who have a small insight into the industry and have a bit of basic knowledge rather than a driver turning up for a job who doesnt have a clue about anything!! My opinion but the drivers we have trained so far have all enjoyed the training and have learnt something, even the driver who took the course who was going to retire two weeks after!!!
  13. Would disagree with the value of DCPC I am a DCPC trainer for a very large transport concern and we are putting all our driver through the training (13000 drivers) This training is being provided free of charge to our drivers. We started in September and have already seen benefits from the messages we are training If done properly DCPC can be no bad thing for the road transport industry
  14. Driver CPC is only required if you intend to use your vocational licence professionally (earn a living) You are quite correct that if you drive an LGV for personal use DCPC is not required Remember though that if you have a vocational licence you can stiil use it professionally until September 9th 2014 without DCPC. This is because you have "aquired rights" (used to be called grandfather rights)
  15. Just found a picture of it
  16. Thats them!!! I believe the "tractor" is demonstrated at Carrington Rally
  17. Dont think there is a Shervick restored, however there is a Sherman that was converted for agricultral use still in existance in Lincolnshire. It has been shown at some rallies and is owned (I think) by a firm in Boston who deal in all things Filed Marshall Cant remember their name though
  18. Croc Yes I forgot about that class, must be old age creeping up!!
  19. No!! But a call to your local VOSA test station should tell you where you can get a class 7 test
  20. If anybody is interested I have a brand new Tirfor (1600kg) with brand new cable for sale looks like the one in the pictures (exept bare ali not painted)
  21. Bit of a difficulty as the Ferret is not a goods vehicle (designed or constructed to carry goods) Therefore IMO it would have to be class 7 MOT
  22. Ian Welcome, hope to see you round some of the shows in the North West
  23. What is the rating of the Tirfor?
