  1. Your work is an inspiration to us lesser mortals who drive MVs but don't take them apart, let alone buy them out of a skip and then assemble them from the bits! I looking forward to seeing the completed vehicle in the summer!
  2. My own Dad was nearly killed when his old Merc fell off its jack when he was under it. Luckily for him he put some blocks under it too, so he was able to push it up on its suspension and crawl out. How he never got any broken ribs I do not know. He taught me to use axle stands in such circumstances.
  3. More importantly what is the thing you bought to convert negatives to digital images; its not to late to get one for xmas I hope! Any links for the device?
  4. In the advert for the new fuel on the link, it looks as if the mug on top of the stand is a plastic one; now that would be a miracle if the black mug from my webbing could be used to cook food!
  5. I thought this was going to be an article about how all ex-military vehicles were going to be banned in France, but then that would be against all the freedoms we have been fighting for over the years.
  6. Is that evidence of olive drab in the bulkhead under the hood?
  7. I think you had a lucky escape personally, as spares for these seem to be quite rare in Europe let alone Australia!
  8. It would be good to see some of their vehicles back on the MV scene. WPR is very drab without them!
  9. I was in the TA in 1980's and never saw any Regular or TA unit in UK or BAOR with a Union Flag. My guess is that it appeared on desert camo used in Gulf War 1.
  10. Well done Tony I'd be interested to see some more photos and to know the camo colour, as often online photos corrupt the shades; it looked like brown and blue in the first photo!!!
  11. Its reassuring that the new WPR owner has been to W&P many times according to the article. Hopefully he can be persuaded to move it back (eventually) to Beltring or even Stoneleigh!!!!!!
  12. I don't think there is any likelihood of the arena being in front of the stand, as the racecourse has some kind of preservation order on it, so the white barriers that formed the original horseracing track cannot be removed.
  13. Is it so that many MV owners from France and Belgium have given up due to the relaxed manner in which the French Police deal with those blockading the Port of Calais?
  14. It looks from the traffic as if everyone at first avoided the M20 by going on the A20 and then once this was known everyone else switched to coming down from M25 to the South Coast via the A21 in the hope of going to Rye, then up the coast a bit before turning towards Folkestone. Others have come south from Canterbury area. So I'd be interested to know whether this will put off the typical family from going.
  15. A friend of mine turned down the idea of going as he heard the M20 was completely closed at Junction 8. So how are things now with the route to WPR. Presumably getting from Junction 8 to A20 would not be too hard?
  16. Regarding the possibility it will be exported abroad and registered somewhere else, no one in the 'DVLA equivalent' in many less sophisticated countries of the world are going bother about a few hard to find chassis numbers on Jeeps that arrive or a V5, when a faked up document or bill of sale might do if a bit of cash changes hands at the docks.
  17. That's interesting, because if Myferry Link had only a few vehicles on board then the company can hardly be any competition, and therefore not worthy of being ordered about by a Competition Commission
  18. For anyone from the London area or beyond coming in a slow and or wide MV and used to doing the M25, M26, M20, then A20, the route across country to avoid M20/A20 looks quite slow and torturous. As for those on the other side of the channel I presume the queues at un-blockaded ports are getting quite long too! Shame on a certain '28 Country group of nations' for saying that Eurotunnel could not own a couple of Ferries too!
  19. I'm thinking that no one will be going this year if the blockade of Calais continues and the M20 is being used as parking. Is the traffic on the A20 any better?
  20. I wonder what Rex will do with his collection of tanks and other vehicles? Has he got room in his new home for them?
  21. Regarding the enormous profit that WPR made, this article suggests otherwise http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kent-business/county-news/all-is-fair-in-war-15862/
  22. So I it really true that War & Peace Revival is to end for good in July 2015?
  23. Good for you in taking on a job like this; I'm looking forward to the photos!
  24. Other owners have araldited a penny over the hole and that's worked equally well apparently for years! As for soldering or welding a tank I'm not sure that's a good idea if it still has traces of fuel in it- you would need to wash the tank out a few times to make sure no vapours are present.
