  1. Some colleges in the UK offer courses on basic restoration topics, it may help to do something like that, as has already been said above it will be difficult finding someone to take on an absolute novice. It is certainly possible to make a living at restoration but standards expected now days are far higher than years ago when "total restoration" meant a quick tart up and two tubs of body filler Good Luck.
  2. Welcome to the HMVF, I have just imported a Trabant 601 from Hungary
  3. Awful news, something we all dread. :-(
  4. You only had to attend the recent D Day 70th in Normandy to see that there is a huge amount of young people involved in our hobby, I think as mentioned above the money side of things is a factor on vehicle ownership, as pressures of raising families, mortgages etc take priority but as we shuffle off to the great MVT collection in the sky todays youngsters may be in a position to take on our vehicles and preserve them as we have done. We are all custodians of history and hopefully this will continue.
  5. Welcome Colin, I have just bought myself a bike project a 1957 BSA B31 first registered to Len Vale Onslow, who was well known in the motor cycle world for building bikes and riding them until the age of 102 I may need your advice before too long as it will be my first British bike rebuild !
  6. Get well soon, I too have had back surgery and need more to stabilise things, but I keep putting it off as last time I had real problems getting back on my feet. Good luck and keep positive.
  7. Welcome Tim, If I had my time again I would choose your type of work, it always amazes me just what is hidden beneath our feet
