  1. Ashley isn't that photo from Blazin Saddles  but updated to WWII ? I m not sure about a video being sufficient enough after all the things you can do with CGI now adays , Best to have few unbiased witnesses on the scene as well :cool2: :-D:rofl:
  2. Then the other source of objects would be from donations or purchases from collectors of historic vehicles . Do they have sufficient space for these, I guess I m wondering if they are including other things still WWII but not currently in the collection , Soviet , Italian , South African ..........
  3. Wonderful to see the verity of photo's . Hows the Museum doing financially ? Do they have plans to expand the collection ? The visible portion of the collection looks fantastic as if anyone of the vehicles could be started up and moved in a short while... is this true or are many of them not in complete order ie missing major components.
  4. A really fascinating quest . Are there no other family members or old friends of the father who could be asked about the truth of this ? I guess it could be anywhere , either buried somewhere on the property , or hidden in a remote part of the farm , since I d think it was for stealth and not a pillbox to defend some location ...... it could be part of some structure as in a basement or below a basement , might be disguised as something else a well cover ,or a grain storage , that had a hidden space . They do have ground penetrating radar and aerial photo's often will reveal buried objects when taken at different times of year depending on soil and vegetation . Keep this updated it will make for a great detective story .
  5. yes , interesting reading , the pliability of memories and of children , We think we know something but others convince us otherwise . As true today as ever .... recent past and present criminal court proceedings with witness accounts and statements . Sorry to veer of course . Interesting how much that person as still able to gather about the raid and the pilots . How important that as many different people are interviewed at the time of an event to get as many details as possible . Todays events become tomorrows history.
  6. Sorry all the Dancing Girls along with the TTH's the Turret Tottie Hotties are not over here , Last I knew of them they were headed south to Australia reportedly they they had a hankering for the Accents and the barby shrimp not to mention the fact that its summer down there ......... a VERY HOT Summer . last image I had seen of the Dancing Girls :dancinggirls::dancinggirls::dancinggirls:
  7. Seems to be a bit of space behind the seating portion of the cab ? Interesting shape never seen one of those before , can you list some of its spec's as in year , speed , gears , carry capacity etc. Looks quite sharp well done .

  14. It was reported on the BBC here today that 1 in 5 did not make it to work yesterday and if that happened today would have impacted British productivity to quite a figure . The other item was that the snow did what even the Blitz in WWII failed to do ..........Stop the Bus's , Of course what they did not include was the number of cars on the road or stuck in the roads that caused the jams that kept the bus's from moving .
  15. Have seen reports of snow on the continent in Belgium, France,Spain and Italy as well as snow moving north west across Great Britian .........quite a event , They said here that this is the worst winter in 18 years in Britian .
  16. Hello Snapper , sorry to report have only had 11" total snow fall here in the Heartland all winter so far and I don't think we had more than a few inches at any one time . all that amounted to 1" of precipitation . They have had a much more difficult time of it on the East coast with much heavier snow falls and a lot of Ice storms its knocked out power and brought down lots of trees on to power lines and block lots of roads both in New England and in the Kentucky region , they have gone a week or more in both areas with out power. I ve been reading of late about the Blizzards of 1948/1949 in Nebraska storm after storm drifts 30-40' yes FEET they melted froze and re-drifted for 5 months starting in early November right straight through to mid April , they had traces of snow on the ground till July 4th . Now that's some winter. That said I still would not knock your current storm Slick roads , white out conditions ,drifting snow ,people stranded , could be a record setter over there .
  17. Welcome Matador steve , Do you plan on restoring you Matador back to its Military configuration or keep it as a logging unit ?
  18. Some nice looking Vehicles ......have more pic's ?
  19. It would be bad enough if it were just the skidoos but the other tracked vehicles doing spins on the clubhouse lawns and parking lot is getting quite out of hand. Did you happen to see the Sherman slide right thru the Bike shed claimed the parking lot , sorry Car park had not be gritted so not their fault , even though they had not heeded the 10 mph speed signs and were doing close to 30mph at the time ! As for the Stalwarts , lets just say bounding over some and through some of the snow drifts ...at least they thought they were only drifts.....after they had gone over a number they discovered the drifts were in fact a drifted over assortment of lesser vehicles as in Jeeps , Iltis's and one Dodge WC. Oh yes and Welcome Ferrettfixer , to the Friendliest Friendly Forum on the web. As long as you dont touch any of the others private stocks of special cakes, biscuits and chocolate goodies you should become a regular member in good standing if you make it until your probationary period has been completed.
  20. O.D. in Snow , Wonderful contrast . While you enjoy a short trip to get somewhere to take photo ......my gosh how the soldiers did it for the entire winter of 1944-45 no heaters , no defrosters , many with no doors or canvas fighting mother nature as well as an armed enemy . Some very Tough Men !
