  1. Hi Tim, If you mean the large seal on the bevel box that seals against the spherical challis, then first person I would try would be Richard Banister in UK. He is my one-stop supplier of Ferret parts! There will be no equivalent as this is a one-off part for the Ferret as it is made solely as a spherical face seal. Incidentally, saw you on Combat Dealers last week with Bruce Crompton, very good. regards, Richard
  2. They are about, even if a bit pricey! http://geros1968.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=841
  3. Just been watching the latest episode, where Bruce was in Australia to deliver the Hetzer to the museum in Cairns. He also visited one of the HMVF forum members if I am not mistaken. Tim, who has a Ferret, took Bruce to see the remains of some of the WW2 coastal defences in a remote area of North Queensland.
  4. Water can for filling up screen washer bottle on a Spitfire?
  5. That's what I meant when saying shrouded (not as in screened). My bet is that the lamps are not normal Land Rover fitments and hence cabling is different.
  6. Does it have different lights fitted, something like military type with wires in shrouding, looks like it is only the lights that are circled. Could they be of German manufacture as fitted to other German MV's to keep a commonality.
  7. It was on the start of a full roll a couple of times at Headcorn, definitely over the 90 degrees
  8. Hi Rick, And what an adventure that was! I also did the 2000 one, following the Old Ghan track. Hope your latest operation is successful. Back to "Spotted Today", I saw the 8 Spitfires and Hurricanes fly over towards Folkestone and return a very short while after. There were 24 Spits and Hurricanes flying out of Biggin Hill on 3 simulated patrols. I was up a quiet country lane parked in a field gateway, listening out when I heard someone shout "There they are!", it was surprising how many people were looking out for them, a wonderful sight. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-33966632 regards, Richard
  9. It did a brilliant display at Combined Ops, Headcorn on Saturday as well. I was told that a person from the Vulcan team with the sales stall at Headcorn had said they thought it was the best display of the Vulcan that they had ever seen.
  10. There is a big flyout of Spitfires and Hurricanes from Biggin Hill tomorrow, 18th August as well. Split in to three flights, they will do simulated patrols and return to Biggin. http://biggin75.strikingly.com/
  11. Terry, Saracen is a dry sump system and people make the mistake of topping up the tank level without running the engine to scavenge the oil in the sump back to tank, hence the overflowing tank. CVR(T) is a normal wet sump as a car.
  12. The rear main oil seal is at the drive end of engine and if sump level is too high then it could be that the seal cannot hold some of the oil back, hence the leak . Simple answer drain down to correct level, clean up and retest.
  13. Gordon, See Bart's book, Observers Military Vehicles Directory from 1945, page 230, Dodge PWC-95, which is a British Dodge Kew model cab from early 1950's.
  14. Hi Nick, The British Army did have long wheelbase Fordson ET 4x2 3 ton GS cargo trucks, in the same class as the 1950's Bedford OL and Austin Loadstar
  15. Looks like a Fordson Thames ET with 4 wheel drive conversion. The Indian Dodges used the Kew Dodge cab, commonly known as 'parrot nose'. Could be wrong.
  16. Bob, I do not recognise that plate and think it was an outside contractor, hence the colour, part number is nothing like a NSN either. Has it got the record card container on it (?), usually by thermostat housing, usually last rebuild is documented on it.
  17. Bob, I see there is no engine number plate but adjacent (below front side tappet cover) there appears to be a rebuild plate possibly? What does it have on it? Grey was used on the Civilian versions of B Range.
  18. It is also on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClcuKXbZhDytuxeaH8yxqPA/feed
  19. Have you got the old pump as it might be repairable, or is it missing altogether?
  20. Hi Julian, Welcome to the forum. I am not too far from Hawkinge, but not visited in years, another mustdo. Best of luck with your restorations, feel free to ask questions. regards, Richard
  21. Robert, 23 Heavy Workshop REME were situated in the Demag factory at Wetter in early 1950's. I did some restoration work on a WOT6 and both the truck and engine were rebuilt there in 1952
  22. Not physically seen, but just looking at some photos of an overland trek of mv's (Trackers 2015) starting out from Adelaide today or yesterday and heading for Alice Springs. There is a Dodge ambulance participating displaying a UK rego, 945XUL. Has someone taken it over to Australia for the event? If so, lucky them, I did this one in 2000.
  23. I forgot to say, the Daimler engine was rebuilt in 1952. I guess to get German industry back on its feet they were using them to cover shortages of parts of our vehicles.
  24. It is very likely that the wheel was made in Germany post war, looks like it is dated 1950. A lot of industry in Germany was used to make parts to rebuild British Army fleet in the major workshops there. I recently stripped a Daimler Dingo engine that was rebuilt in 23 Heavy Workshop REME (Wetter I believe) and that had German made pistons.
  25. That film made the WOT3 even rarer !
