  1. All that seems to be missing now is a rabbit looking at a pocket watch.
  2. The Liliiput Fleet. A book I found yesterday at the show. Reminisecent of childhood, I first read it at the age of 11 or 12. It is the story of the fishing vessels requisitioned during WW2 and manned by fisherman as part of the Royal Naval Patrol Service. Good read of a little known though essential service. http://www.harry-tates.org.uk/
  3. MOD managed to lose a Horse Box a few years ago. BP managed to have a 50,000 ton tanker stolen!
  4. Do remember the old adage ' A bugger if it don't go, a Disaster if it don't stop'. Wheels, brakes and steering, three things not to scrimp on. Military reasons for paining 1 Protect metal 2 Concelment 3 Looks. Anyway a battered looking MV driven by a detrmined looking driver, scares the blue meannies out of the hoy poly.
  5. Could one suggest the power of imagination and belief? Allows you to see or hear exactaly what you want. Now all that is needed is the essential Grounf Proof. start digging
  6. Only because they never thought of it Goran.
  7. Definitly the 'Lived in ' look. After all the prime purpose of any military vehicle is 'Keep the Men Alive'. There not a rich man toy, they had to work for a living.
  8. Deep joy! She's still flying! Carol who owned Katy was friends with them.
  9. Gentelmen! For the collective search and problem worrying of the Forum Been to Militay Odessey today, and purchased a pig skin holster from a Sam Brown set, no date unfortunatley. But written inside the flap in beautiful copper plate writing is the following N. F. Rippon then a possible srvice number 6266ZZ followed by P.W.O Norfolk Art (M) Now the best fit I can find is the Prince of Walees Own Norfolk Artillery Militia. I've sent a couple of e mails the re-eanctment group and a local geneologist, but any one here any knowledge?
  10. You may be plesentally suprised what a coat of T Cut would do.

    New toy!

I know the confusion over HP at that age. The HP was worked out by the RAC and was used to set the Tax rate, didn't take HMG long to work out how to mug motorists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_horsepower You can get the bits to rebuild the Jackall syatem.
  12. Welcome Guido. Are you sure that banging your head on the roof, rattling your teeth with the suspension and shouting beacuse you have gone deaf, definitly hasn't put you off Land Rovers? You'll fit right in here!

    New toy!

Just right for trips to Tesco's and the school run. Though jokes aside you can use that everyday! As for the brakes, well you have to DRIVE the vehicle, not some numpty in an office telling a computer what it should do for you. I love it!
  14. Bovington Tank Musuem have that set taken on Chiselhurst Common. I've posted various of the Dodge pictures here. You can still locate the places the pictures were taken.
  15. The acepted way in the antique world of protecting metal is to use a good quality wax polish. Though would be a bit of a job on a Jeep. If you want to keep the in service look, and I agree a MV shouldn't look showroom fresh, then you could use a matt varnish. A few years back I had to clean genuine Somme mud of my WC51, nearly cried.
  16. Comes of being brought up somewhere that was Occupied. If in doubt think BANG! Mind you, if I knew then about the prices 3rd Reich kit makes now. I might even have been tempted to keep some.
  17. One BIG diffrence in all this equipment swap. If the British recived the M4A4 or any other equipment or supplies they were paid for. When the US got them back or were supplied with British equipment, they didn't reimburse.
  18. Yeah, my son is finding that out.
  19. Don't balme the CAA. As for XH558, just a fly past is awesome!
  20. Nothing wrong with Discoverys, as long as there not TD5's and you have enough cable ties handy to strap the floor down in the back. As for the Stolly, and the First Lady accepting it, you are a lucky man! Welcome in.
  21. Whatever! That will be an elegant beast to ride about in.
