  2. Think of the C*** a WW2 miltary engine was built to run on? If you used original spec parts not suprising.
  3. Does it have shoulder starp fittings and vent at the top end?
  4. Not unless the barrel cannot be changed. If you are talking of the 'slot in' .22. If it can be removed no. I would contact a proof house. There were a number of old .303 Lee Enfeild Number ones converted by Parker Hale to .22 in the thirties forties. Thses occasionally come up. Mostly there is no problem with them, basicaly because of the age. Mucking about with a modern weapon may cause trouble, if it was built 7.62 it remains 7.62 regardless and if it is self loading above .22, Section 5. Back in the days.. no, dont go there.. Pistol systems were sold with a change of calibre. These were counted in UK as two seperate weapons. A seperate entitlement was needed for each calibre.

  8. MIKE!! :nono: Are you implying the dear old Austin Montego was a heap of &*^^% ? Well, I must admit mine was odd. It was an old Auto estate, and what was really odd, only one rust spot! That was a tiny hole on the rear door surround. Kept waiting for it to grow bigger and scrap the thing, never did. I got it as leaded fuel was being phased out. The Broquet was about £10 so worth the punt. Worked for about four more years then basically engine wore out, and just not worth repair and wanted a change. I'd fitted the Broquet on a wire so took it out. My replacement was Subaru L series estae. I stuck the Broquet in because it was there. The funny thing was when it was MOT'ed the emissions were so low it should have not been running. When I said to the examiner it had a Brocquet he just shrugged and said that explained it, they did lower emissions consedrably.
  9. They do brush over Higgin's history. He was quite a guy. Irish american descent he started out making boats for the Prohibition Rum Runners, pionnering the use of Liberty Aero engines. His boats were so fast the US Authorities couldn't catch them. So then he started making boats for the US Coastgaurd. Then he designed Eureka, and the original Higgin's Boat Landing craft and sold it to the US Goverment. The design was built from Honduran Mahogony. Guess who had bought the entire output of Honduran Mahgony for the previous three seasons?
  10. I used a Broquet catalyst in an Austin Montego, they were supposed to be 'impossible' to run on unleaded petrol. It was an old car when I put it in and it ran a fither 100,000 miles.

  14. change flexi pipes! Cheap and easy. Good idea to do it anyway, and if is the simplest thing to start with.
  15. A gentle flush won't do any harm. I'd then add fresh coolant with K Bar conditioner. The K Bar will keep things sweet.

  17. Also a very good for cleaning up glass. It is also added to some commercial cleaners. (Actually Mrs Beaton has a lot of recommendation on the use of Vinigar)
