  1. Gentelmen! I supect a con! Notice the apple trees above Mr Leese's head? He's just after a large size squasher to make Calvados! :-D In the mean time, I'll start getting the wire brushes out.
  2. They seriously DO NOT like them! Understandable really. If you have any on the vehicle exterior they should be display only anyway. I always open the top of mine, then the loaders can easily check that they are empty, and more importantly fume free! The fumes can play hell with the fire detection system. As for places to visit, where to start! DO try to be at Iperes for the 8 o'clock Menin Gate ceremony (And try to drive through just after, the intrest from spectators will do your ego the world of good! ) The V3 site at Memequcyes is now open to the public. The Atlantic Wall museum at Zebrugge, and Middleburgh and Walcheren. Try to get to Middelburgh on a Monday when they have the market in the square. http://www.campingmiddelburg.nl/uk/english.html Great place if Rennie is open at the time your going. Doesn't bat an eyelid when a dozen military vehicles including armour show up. They also have the 'Crazy Street' nearby, well worth a visit.
  3. My 12 volt has never been througfh a condenser, so voltage might be in it. For every Watt 6 volt requires twice amapage of 12.
  4. Well he stormed Hell enough times, St Peter! Stand to your kit.
  5. Is it sprung? Looks very like the original L'Ambulance wagon.
  6. Remeber, bulbs, fire extingusher , warning triangles and hi Vis clothing for each passenger. I tend to stay off the autoroutes where possible, at the speed your doing why not sight see on lovcal roads? I also have a little flag of each country and fly that and the Jersey flag from the front of the Dodge, like a courtersey ensign on a yacht. goes down well with the locals. And beam alignmet alterers. The tempoary export licence, I'm registered keep filling in forms and sending offf , Damm all response and never been asked.
  7. Another thougt, take the themostat out and check it with boiling water to see if it opens properly.
  8. That's why he was the boss, it goes wrong, you're to blame! :-D
  9. Yes, white isn't to bad at the moment, especially with the stuff in it. Probably blowing condensation out of the exhaust as well. Got be warmed up[ sometime, sounds like you have everything in your favour. Just do it slowly and carefully keep checking levels and look out, listen and smell for anything nasty, be prepared to shut down quickly. She may well blow black and grey for a few minutes so have plenty of ventilation.
  10. So WHO has the girls? :cool2: Though both beer and pastieries are good reasons to visit Holland.
  11. I've found the Metalsheild to be as tough as, well tougher than re-enactors boots.:-D Same with the woodsheild on the rwear floor. Dulux do their own range of primers, they also have a large technical help libary. It also very good cover http://dulux.trade-decorating.co.uk/products/index.jsp
  12. One trick that night help . Get a piece of 2x1 about two foot long. When the engine is running place one end aginst the engine block and other end to ear. If there are any nasty noises then you'll hear them and be able to locate accuratley. Got to be started and warmed up some time, just be very careful don't be tempted to rev the nuts out of it. Watch your coolant level. I'd use fresh oil as a matter of course. Another trick on an engine that has been sitting is to warm some engine oil in an old pan till it starts to glaze and smoke slightly. Then pour a bit into each cylinder and turn the engine by hand without plugs. That helps to ensure everything is free before going over to power. Other important question, what colour smoke did you get when she ran?
  13. If the engine is dying when acelerater is pressed that sounds like you may have something not working right. I'm not familiar with the carb so don't know if there is a pump or such like. Though it could be electrics. Before warming up have you done an oil change?
  14. If the vehicle hasn't run for a while a good soack in propritery carb cleaner spray can help a lot. But then so does brake cleaner spray, dosen't seem to be much diffrence. Alternatley take the carb off and soack in parrafin. That should remove any varnish or muck in the carb.
  15. Joris has to pay for the upkeep of the dancing girls some how!:-D :dancinggirls:
  16. Your local Dulux colour centre! I've one across the road in Orpington, they are great at matching paint samples and the range of both metalsheild and woodseal paints is superb, very durable stuff. The other stuff I've found very useful on a vehicle which you do inspect regularly is balck tin roof paint. Keeps the metal sealed but if anything does start it's easy to strip treat and repaint. Also very economic. What I would do is make sure you use a good quality primer, and two or three coats. Afterall that does most of the protection the top coat is just for show.
  17. The various roles the Humber Heavy played, why not get onto Tony at Axholme and have several sets of magnetic markings made? One for evry day of the month!
  18. The blue utility truck. Used by the Royal Navy. Brain asleep not FWD , FMW
  19. CPC is only needed if your MAIN job is driving. Unles sthey have changed the bl**dy rules, again. Complete waste of space anyway.
