Thanks for the replies. The reason I ask is that I have had one of these little critters for more than 40 years (gulp!) and it really needs freshening up so I was thinking of a different scheme for it. Originally it would have been light blue with red wheels, so where green came into it, who knows?. The wheels point to it being an early 40's model. It appears to have the track set wide and a non standard downswept exhaust, but not have the cultivator lift mechanism, to me suggested a specific role - or maybe not! I'd love to know more about the comms cable layer. Edit to add... Now I've studied the pic closer, there's something very screwey going on with the wheel arrangement that I can't quite get my head around. Very strange.

Talking to a 'salesman' about the braking system on these caravans and was told that "it's a variator electronic system that works on the position of the brake pedal". Slightly baffled and not liking the sound of that I asked if it was type approved, "dosen't need to be". Ok, CE marked? "These are built in the US so dont need anything like that". A quick glance around found that although coupled to a UK Navara and being sold as a complete brand new unit, there were niether trianges or rear fog lights fitted, and no sign of a weights/dimentions data plate. Time to walk away.

Thinking on, County did do some Massey conversions but on which models I can't remember. From memory the steering swivels look very similar to the County axle although the diff casing looks different.

Aha, to be honest the part of the wheelhouse I saw reminded me of the design of a '70s Dinky toy (no offence intended!). Thanks for putting me right, next time I'll have to stop and take a proper look.

The original model K5 'Leopold' in HO was made by Lima. 2 piece loco, coach, ammo wagon, open wagon, and the gun itself. There are 1/144 (N) versions of the gun made by a Japanese company but for the moment the name has escaped me.

I have seen a very grainy pic of a 12" howitzer that was stored in Golgotha tunnel near Shepherdswell, Kent. It is now part of the East Kent Railway. I think they also have the remains of the lineside ammunition huts. Give them a call, they may be able to help.
