  1. Not mine... http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/austin-k9-radio-wagon-modarmy-1950s-project-for-sale/1023418741
  2. How odd - yesterday at around 3.30 I saw a nice Jeep and trailer - also northbound M3 approaching the M25. Also saw a Jeep called 'Betsy' in south London. Not saying exactly where, but also saw a man with a hawk in the same place.
  3. Sorry - did I miss something? Was there anything else in the pics other than the tractors?:wow: Got to love a County! I have no clue as to the type of vent currently fitted to your roof but may I suggest boat type 'mushroom' vents. They can be opened and closed from the inside and when closed they seal water tight.
  4. Thanks, we'll delve a little deeper to make sure we have the right info then see what we can do. Rob.
  5. Hi, We've just found some effects belonging to my late father in law and was wondering if it's possible to research his military records from his service no.? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for your help guys, found quite a few for sale. I've been looking through some of the ads and found one with a scan of it's log book, once translated it made for some scary reading. I used to use my truck as it was intended - or so I thought. Physical size wise it's similar to any other modern 1 ton truck... I've just discovered it's rated payload is only 350kg! Opps! In that respect I'd be better off with a Honda Acty
  7. Thanks chaps, Methinks a purcase is now on the cards. Rob.
  8. Hi All, Anyone seen this DVD? I'm thinking about getting it as I saw it when it was first broadcast in the 70's but I don't want to be dissapointed by it not being as good as I remember (if that makes sense!). Although only 2 episodes I hope it is far better than todays Discovery channel multi series offerings which are so full of staged incidents and seeded confrontations it'd difficult to describe any of it as watchable documentary (sorry, rant over). Can anyone offer a review? Thanks, Rob.
  9. You got to the keyboard before I did! Didn't see anything unusual in Rye 11.00, but lots of activity in Camber 11.30.
  10. Thanks Trevor, I'll bear that in mind. Lots of things to ponder over now...
  11. Hi Trevor, Interesting site, proves they are still about even if few and far between. It's dissapointing to discover the amount of parts for sale, I sold mine purely because of the lack of available parts - really miffed now! Just in case I do accidentally press the wrong button:cool2: or do something else equally stupid, how do I go about getting something like this shipped to the UK? What sort of paperwork, taxes and general red tape is involved? I don't understand a word of Polish so while looking through Allegro I was relying on google translate (Hmm...) so could be easily misled, it made reading the descriptions - er - interesting! Next, I've got to decide how much I really want one. Thanks for your help, Rob.
  12. Knowing you guys travel far and wide, and are good at spotting things in barns and hedges - well - has anyone seen one of these anywhere? It's a Tarpan 233 (I think!). I regrettably moved this one on some years ago and now feel the need for another. They were extremely rare in the UK - possibly only 2 registered - so I'm guessing Poland would be most likely but this interweb thingy has so far come up with nothing for sale. Any info would be greatly received. Thanks, Rob.
  13. Somewhere between Broadclyst and Langford on east side of the B3181, a 'distressed white' Scammell Pioneer (I think) in a field.
  14. Well Saturday actually... 4.30pm - sorry - 1630hrs, eastbound A20 near Folkstone, Dodge Command Car (I think thats what it was):embarrassed:. Sign on the back said 'max speed 30'. Hmmm... Rob.
  15. Interested to see the photos - if they're really small they could be Ransomes, 6' long, 3' wide, and about 10cwt. Have seen a couple of these in RAF markings. This one is about 1938. Not mine, so can't be sure.
  16. Here you go... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Tiger-Tank-Funtrack-Tank-off-road-buggy-track-paintball-business-events-/251271368441?_trksid=p2047675.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555001%26algo%3DPW.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29%26meid%3D7558396402128356379%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D1013%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D251273298811%26
  17. Made me smile, the first word uncovered by the hose? TOP! Want one of those diggers too.
  18. The odd thing about the picture is that it may not be anything to do with the pub - there is a Rolls Royce garage on the other side of the road! Phantom motors, still there.
  19. Sorry, missed something somewhere - hence the name? I've worked on side valves and overhead valves even sleeve valves and wankel but this is the first time I've ever seen an engine laid out this way, is there a specific reason? I'm guessing it's a fairly common arrangement in heavier military applications but why? It appears to be an overly complicated way of doing something fairly simple. How does it make the engine quieter? You've got me hooked now!:-) Rob.
  20. In the 'Ferret re-engine' thread there's a pic of an engine with the head off. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I only see one valve. How does that work, and is there a reason for this design? Thanks, Rob.
  21. I wonder how far the Jeep went with a rope caught in the wheel? Very atmospheric pics, almost spooky.
  22. I spy part of an aluminium ladder frame - remains of a dropside Thames (pre Transit) truck?
  23. Hi, Apologies if this has been posted before but some interesting photo's and links here. http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=31&sid=8faf22cf411760737d5b8feaf8e9c1b1 Rob.
