  1. Well this was my query. With the body at 6'6 it's not a problem but if its measured as the absolute minimum gap you could fit through, then the folded mirrors and mounts mean it's 7'1. Quite simply, I've been using a long detour around a road with a width limit and I've been told that I have to use the quickest route along this road. Who's right? Me, or my manager?
  2. A scenario and a couple of questions... A particular road has a 7' compulsory width restriction (7' in a red circle). The width of my van is 6'6" at the kerb and body, 7'2 at the mirrors when folded, and 8' with the mirrors out. Which width is the official measurement? Can I go down the road? Thoughts anybody?
  3. Does the Haynes manual cover the Packard engine option?:undecided:
  4. If they were to land at Waddington - 2 Lancs with 2 Vulcans. Make a nice picture...
  5. It aint pretty but it is functional.
  6. There I was, sitting on the roof of my shed while nailing down some new felt when it occured to me that the NGTE Pyestock site had recently been demolished and cleared. Where's the connection? Well, I've had this shed for 20 years. I got it from an aunt who'd had it 15 years before that, and prior to that it had been originally sited at the NGTE at Pyestock although what it's use was I don't know. It was very well insulated inside and when the insulation was removed there is a signature and a date of 1968 on one of the panels. Now it may be one of the only remaining buildings from that site... I wonder what it's worth??? Hmmm...
  7. Really don't know on that one. Maybe I'm going soft but someone simply asked for help.
  8. I like the idea but don't know if the superstructure would cope. Mythbusters raised a boat with pingpong balls but I suspect EA wouldn't be impressed if they escaped!
  9. They're looking at 16th but what the logistics of getting big pumps onsite without resorting to landing craft, pontoons or Stollies I don't know although there is a public slipway direct off the road wiithin 100yds or so of the boat. Edited to confirm date.
  10. They're looking at 16/17th or bank holiday weekend but what the logistics of getting big pumps onsite without resorting to landing craft, pontoons or Stollies I don't know although there is a public slipway direct off the road within 100yds or so of the boat.
  11. Well, I was thinking godiva but why not? - opportunity to use them in anger. I'm not involved but if anyone can help it's best to contact the OP.
  12. Hi Guys, I hope I'm allowed to post this here. There is a WW2 era boat sunk in Kingston and is hoping to be refloated but they need pumps. Big ones! To save retyping too much the thread is here; http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=68663&page=1 Any help appreciated!
  13. There you go... http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=10558 Not really Martian related though.
  14. Sorry, yes GSU. Just curious as a pic turned up on another forum.
  15. Mine took 7 weeks. Backlog in the medical dept. As I understand it you can drive up to the expiry date. Beyond that technically you are unlicenced.
  16. M25 westbound, lowloader with two tanks.
  17. Yesterday, Jeep on trailer, A30 eastbound near Honiton. Today, different Jeep on trailer, M25 eastbound Clacket lane services.
  18. Hi, I need to replace some swingarm bushes on homemade trailer but I have no idea what the suspension donor was. Is there a similar system as with bearings where they are generally available as long as you have the dimensions or number? Or are they manufacturer specific?
  19. Is the tank vent clear? If the vent was blocked the tank may have vented through pin holes you have now sealed up! Just a thought...
  20. Take 2! It's got an 18hp Briggs twin in it, but a TB serial no. so it should be Tecumseh, a home made exhaust and currently only 7 wheel drive. Also some of the hubs appear to be keyed to the axles with old valve stems!:wow: This isn't going to be a five minute job.
  21. Ok Thanks, this will be an ongoing project as it's something that will have to take it's place in the queue. Thanks for the links but I've simply not had time to investigate yet! This one is a 16hp Tecumseh and appears to have an extra sprocket on lh rear axle next to the drive sprocket. Any ideas?
  22. Hi John, Thanks for that. I'll have to go and rummage around! It's not my machine but I get stuck with 'can you fix it?!' That said, I also get to play with it so it's not all bad. I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers, Rob.
  23. 9ish this morning 3 Jeeps northbound A34 at Bullington Cross.
