  2. Yea sound good, did not realize they were air over hydraulic ! Ok anyone got a schematic from a Bedford MK ?
  3. Air brake chambers.. !! What are the differences in them, there seems to be many different ones but most look the same? I can understand that there could be mounting and rod differences but do they all work by pushing when air is applied or can some pull ? Do any have springs in them to make them return to the rest position once there is no air in them ? What does the Service system do ? What does the emergency system do ? Is there then just an ordinary system which is used under normal circumstances to work the brakes ?
  4. Yes please if you could have a dig around for it that would help I think. Cheers
  5. Hmmmmm what I could do with is a schematic for a Daf 45 with air over hydraulic brake system as this is what the engine was out of, so like you say it would seem sensible to follow the rest of the system. Bernard yes please if you could scan something it might be of help to expand my knowledge of this airie thing I am about to get involved in.....................
  6. Had a fight today with my winch shaft on my truck, first it would not come off the winch worm drive shaft then due to uj being seized up had a devils job getting them to bits. Anyway I now need some uj cap circlips, does anyone have 8 or know where to get just 8 from ? Strange thing is they do not have any roller bearings just plain steel caps directly on the uj cross piece, but then its not going fast !!!!!!!!!!
  7. Don't forget when you play about with the shims you must put the same sizes and number of shims in the top and bottom caps to keep the centre of the wheel hub in line with the centre line of the main axle half shaft. Pre loads are also important there is one for just one hub and then there is one for the pull on the steering wheel with everything connected. 8. Would love to come up to this show this year and bring along the GMC and 105mm Howitzer. Would there be any problem if we booked in and could not make it ? How early and how late can we arrive and depart ?
  9. Hi all does any one know the dimensions of the UJ joints which are on the prop between the main gear box and the transfer box for a CCKW ?
  10. On left of Forest Road as you turn off from Hambledon Road Denmead.
  11. Ah but at least its easy to see them they are brown aren't they....or just follow the huge paths carved by them pushing the snow out the way.
  12. Well this year is here and its full steam ahead to get thing going for the Overlord show this year. The dates are Friday 24th to Monday 27th of MAY 2013
  13. I use BOC for my Argoshield and have a yearly rental for the bottle for many many years. recently went over to CO2 and the now empty argoshield bottle sat in the garage empty, decided to cancel the BOC account, took the bottle back and the guy behind the counter said he could take it back and keep the account open and BOC would credit any remaining months on the yearly rental. So my thought now is could I if I needed to use my still open account and get a bottle use it and then when empty return it and get the remaining months back rather than have it just sitting around in the garage ??
  14. Don't pull too much you don't want to be concreting a new patch in the floor Do you know how much big cable there is on the drum ? and what is the little drum next to it for ?
  15. That winch does make that Jag engine look very small :wow:
  16. Dont forget the set of spare light bulbs, warning triangle, hi viz jacket in the driving compartment with you ( so you can put it on before you get out of the vehicle ) 2 spare tyres !!!!!!! as you are not allowed to travel with out one, so if you get a puncture and change it for the spare ( you then don't have a spare tyre ) you are then suppose to drive to a tyre garage and get the punctured tyre fixed before continuing on your journey. A friend of mine has had this happen to him at the ferry port on the homeward journey, he got a routine customs stop, when the customs official asked to look in the back of his camper he saw the punctured tyre and called the police over who fined him for not having a spare tyre, had to give name and all details this then flagged up several parking offenses too.
  17. Very good, do like the display lots. Well done.
  18. Might have been a different outcome if it was taking a hard turn ! Would have thought what ever the situation that should not have happened.
  19. That winch looks much bigggggger in real life when you stand next to it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. With the reference to paying to exhibit at a show why should this become the norm, surely the organisers get enough from the paying public when open, the exhibitors pay enough for fuel and or transport costs just to get there so why should they pay.
  21. They are called Centaur's and based on a stage 1 V8 at the front and parts of the Scorpion light tank at the rear. I think there was a very short prop from the transfer box to the track drive axle, as the transfer box is part of the gearbox and so is rubber mounted with the engine and the track drive axle is bolted to the chassis, the tracks are also Scorpion. Something went wrong...
  22. Looks like a bit of bad engineering !!!!!!!!!
  23. Good to hear it running well on the bit of youtube footage. Sounds like you guys have it all sorted to bring the beasty into the 21st century, glad to hear about the girder trailer to...
  24. What is that price for, how big what does it cover, what is it made off ? If you think that a rear canvas is nearly £500 its not bad !!!!!! If you were to remove all the canvases and put that sheet over could probably add 10 years life to your canvas.
