  1. For the all knowing ones out there I could do with knowing some weights of items on a GMC truck. 1-- weight of complete 270 engine and gearbox 2-- weight of complete gun ring, skate and 3 legs with 50 cal BMG
  2. That's very bad news, I am sorry to here that, you and John must be gutted that after all those years sorting out the Conq and now you have it sorted you wont be playing with it anymore.. Very sorry to here it a great loss.
  3. Really nice bit of preserved history you have there, like you say its almost a shame to run it up, good to see some pics of it as it was found. Surely there cant be many more "barn finds" left out there.....
  4. Yes did use Plasti-gauge all big ends were the same and no scoring. Have not checked the vac as yet due to still sorting out the inlet and exhaust manifolds.
  5. Yes, very nice and well finished, will love a closer look at A and E, the events getting closer cant wait...........
  6. Looks like a 2 cylinder Lister for an engine. The angle drive gearbox does look right with the engine and main gearbox behind it, suspect the (motor fan guard) is there just to cover a turning end shaft. The side plates to the wire rope pullies look prety thick too 1/2 inch or so.
  7. Maybe winch for moving targets on a range !!!!
  8. Not so much a Boom Boom as a pop pop, its only little you know
  9. I did check the bore wear but only by using the new rings  There was no scoring or gouge lines in the cylinder bores but were very shiny I think I have posted about the new and old rings but just to go over it again the old rings which came off the pistons in their respective cylinders all had excessive ring end gap over 40 thou with the new rings in the cylinders after a hone they were just about 4 thou if I can remember rightly so I believe the wear was in the rings rather than the cylinders.
  10. To clear up some points, it turned out that the low compression readings for cylinder No3 and No4 were down to two exhaust valves which were slightly bent on their heads so leaking through the valve seats, this has been sorted out now new valves and re seated. Big ends shells were pitted the journels on the crank have been checked and are smooth and circular so I have replaced the big end shells with new ones oil pressure still good. I am aware of the difference of flow and pressure and all the oil ways in the crankshaft are clear also main bearings are ok too. It was the exhaust ports on the head to manifold joint which was the cause of the knock( exhaust blow ) due to distortion and not being able to mover the bolts on the joint between the exhaust and inlet manifolds which prevented the exhaust maifold pulling up tight. Now this has been proved a new manifold is being made as a temp measure.
  11. Not quite fixed, soom will be ( with fingers crossed ) Selling what !!!!!!! If you mean my truck no way If you think a silly thing like a knock will cause me to sell my truck not know way not ever ever ever ever
  12. It sounds much much better than the last time I heard it, well done with the sorting out of the new fuel injection system..
  13. Nice to hear that, see you there then, should be a good laugh having two 155's firing at a show would be a great gate entrance !!! Come over and have a chat....
  14. Are you bringing your noisy trailer ?
  15. Replaced the rear spring over the weekend all went well and now sorted also we all still have all our fingers. Centre spring mount bearings will require some attention soon. Were very lucky did not have to remove any of the torque rods or move any of the axles, jacked up truck and blocked chassis with timber, unbolted the spring shackles and removed all ok, this released the spring, unbolted and removed the centre spring plate bolt ( the on which holds all the leaves together then knocked number 4 leaf ( fourth up from the bottom ) through until the end was level with the end of leaf 5 this enabled the spring to be slid through one of the axle spring pockets ( can get leaves 1 and 2 which are in there anyway and also No3 will fit too but No4 stops so sliding it along gives enough room) and this made enough clearance for the other ends of the spring to clear the other axle pocket and so the spring could be removed, re assembly is just the reverse of the above, as they say..

    Decorating

I have just spent 2 hours trying to fine my way out of the bedroom as we have also painted the inside of the door and once it was shut I could not find it.........:nut:
  17. Well not such a good girl then ( in reply to my other post today !!!!!!!!!!) Sounds as the other posters have said that it looks like a fuel problem, a quick thing first is if the fuel pump down below the oil filter has a manual priming lever on the side of it make sure it is not stuck up and stopping the pump from working, should be in the down position. The next best thing is to disconnect the fuel hose to the carb and use the priming lever to see if the pump will pump fuel, if no lever on pump, disconnect 6volt or 12 volt ( which ever you have as a supply ) wire to H.T. Coil and crank with starter this stops high voltage sparks jumping about with all that fuel about. Good luck, just think all these things are happening now and once sorted you should not need to do them again for years.
  18. Any luck how did you get on :cool2: Is it behaving its self now.
  19. Strange point any reason for the US star to be upside down on the crane back panel ?
  20. What was the out come on this, did you shed any light on the problem
  21. :wow: :cool2: :red: xxxxxxxxx
  22. So the 10 long tube things are 24v fluorescent strip lights then ? Do the fittings have switches on themselves ? What are the white or grey square boxes do they have switches on them ? Do all the plugs and sockets on all the bits and pieces have 3 pins on them ?
