  4. Yesterday at the Overlord show a chap came up to me, and straight as a die he said "I am looking for Steve ( or one such name like that ) he has an army truck and its got a white star on it" .............................. Well what could I say !!!!!!!
  5. Hi to you Paul, I dont think the Scout car are the same, but if its any help the shims fit on the big square caps which bolt over the bearings, with more shims in, the cap can not be bolted down so much so the bearing is looser, by taking out shims and or swapping for thinner ones you can obtain the correct pre-load on the hubs, NOTE you MUST fit and remove or put in the same number and thickness on the top and the bottom so as to keep the hub in a central position in relation to the axle.
  6. Bit of an update to this beasty thing....... I still have all my eyebrows and no burns, have found that using just good quality Parafin is better as this can boil the water in about 40mins, I will get some pics at Overlord show and might even post some of the luxury tent carpet, Oh that reminds me must pack the Hoover !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well got to keep the carpet clean hey...
  7. The trouble with the tanks on SWB GMC's is the strips between the tank and straps is a woven canvas type material, similar to rubbing strips between bonnets and frames on old cars, this of corse absorbs water :-( and dirt builds up between the tank and frame as well, stays damp and rots the tank :-( Clean between your tanks and frames..
