  1. What happened to your hydrovac ? Have you got that sorted out yet ?
  2. Ummmmm The wiring !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oops sorry could not resist that !!! Well I have had a 6 cylinder electronic rev counter lurking around for ages, so I thought I would use it on the truck there is a Positive wire, goes to a switched live. Negative goes to a ground connection and the last one is a trigger which goes to the connection on the coil which links the coil and points ( not the HT wire ) just like that, but as it's max reading is 7000 RPM the truck only revs to 2750 RPM, it does not move much but nice to know what revs the engine is doing when on a long dual carrigeway. My speedo does not read very accuratly so not a good judge of engine revs.
  3. Tie bar pins now done and toe in adjusted, so we shall see how it goes but a road test the other day seems very promising. New new distributor now fitted and timed up by ear !!!!!!!!!!! the old one was, well very old, so much so with the gear drive in one hand you could easily turn the rotor arm about 10 degrees from one side to the other with no resistance and not moving the gear drive, eeeek also it had variable points adjustment in that the bearing was so worn that you could wobble the shaft sideways as well and alter the gap of the points, how it kept running I don't know !!! so a good move to put a nice new distributor in it... Have gone down the boy racer route and fitted a rev counter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you know the best revs to change gear in a GMC is 2000 any lower or higher and the gears crunch so there you go.
  4. Hear Hear I have been using the same combination for the last 6 years or so and every year do a whole oil change before the new season engine, g/box, tfer/box, axles. All good and can get the olis in 25 Ltr drums..
  5. Thanks for the suggestions but I am not looking for a tent, its just that I have a good condition roof / side section which is tooo good to cut up and wondered if anyone would be interested in it.. It appears to have 6' sides from ground to first pole then about 6' to next pole then 4' to ridge and then the same again down the other side, fitted with 2 fold out roof vents, 2 large windows with white roll up cover and also roll up blackout cover, eyes and loops on both sides to link in with other roof sections, whole length is about 30' X 12'
  6. Try him here are the details. MGM Haulage Malcolm Millard tel: 07802-604407
  7. Have you tried Malcolm !!!!! we went to Bolero with ?
  8. Morning all, does anyone out there know about tents like the 9x9 and 12x12 but is there wider ones than a 12x12, I don't mean length as I know they can be added to, end to end to create any length you want, I am interested in wider ? ie from ground over the ridge and back to the ground on the other side. Thanks
  9. Wooof Wooof or sumat like that
  10. Sure the new bulbs you are fitting are 12 volt and not 6 volt He He He....

  13. Not toooo worried about the hair !!! I was thinking of getting the HBT overalls and a 43 Jacket from SOF, probably a good start, at least they are all green !!!!! We shall see what they look like and how they fit !
  14. Jack, what was the outcome of this and did you get anything from Soldier of Fortune, what is their kit actually like ? I need something apt for wearing in my Jimmy and thought of HBT overalls and a 43 Jacket I already have some boots and leggins, would anyone like to suggest, have seen the post previous but no outcome to it?? Not overly concerned for it being genuine but just close ?

  16. Interesting about the Dodge it has doors on it, I thought these were a modern addition ?? is it a genuine 1945 pic? do you have any more like it of the doors.
  17. Any chance of posting some pics of the truck, and the No 7 set and how it is fixed in the back of the truck. Thanks
  18. Yes you are right about the pics, look at the white bits on the wall by the chimney stack, the white bits appear in both pics.
  19. As per TM 9-801 Manual To drain axle oil after operation or when oil is still hot. No mention of quantity, just to fill to level of filler hole. This applies to Splits and Banjo Axles Fronts and Both Rears. Also mentions checking vents at same time. R3
  20. Cant remember the last time we had sunshine like that :-D when did you take that pic, truck does look nice in the sun though.... All the best R3
  21. I have the TM 9-801 as well, good for a start but I am looking for more of the detailed manuals which describe repair and stripping down of the more tricky components..
  22. Very interesting, Tootallmike, so as my CCKW352-B1 falls in between chassis numbers 13188 to 41188 I can assume that my truck was built between Feb 41 and June 41 ??? :-D :-D mine is an early truck...... :-D :-D
  23. So is that the most important manual to have, which shows all the parts of the truck in exploded views and details all the bits on how to take it to bits :-D
