  1. I might have had a punt on the Type 69 if I had the time and space. Andy
  2. That's because it's one of those annoying auctions that keeps resetting the clock if a bid is trumped in the last couple of minutes. If there's a bidding war the item can close ages after the scheduled time, as happened with a couple of the MBTs. I understand that this behaviour mimics a real auction and gives the vendor a higher return, but it's really tedious if you're tracking a number of lots and the times all get interleaved. Andy
  3. So did anyone on here manage to buy one? Andy
  4. So is anyone on here walking round with a big smile on their face? Andy
  5. I think you'll find that the cold start kit, including heater and provision to use an extra set of batteries, was only fitted to vehicles intended to be started below minus 10 degrees Celsius. At that stage you were also supposed to use AVTUR rather than diesel. Andy
  6. A friend of mine with a diesel Sultan has taken a drill to his for the same reason. A better engineering solution would be to drill and tap UNC for some blanking plugs. Andy
  7. So, "Control Panel, Alternator, No.1 Mk.1, FV342587, NSN 2590-99-881-6460"? This getting distinctly off-topic, but has he tried running the alternators individually and swapping control boxes to locate the problem? The charging voltage across the batteries should be 28.5V +/- 0.5V. Andy
  8. Could you define "regulator"? Andy
  9. I'm pretty sure that 07EB53 had a dial sight, not sure if it's still there. Andy
  10. 07EB53 was once a nicely restored Abbot with all the hard to find bits and pieces in the turret. In the second photo it's the one on the left. (I'm bidding on the Abbot pack, by the way.) Andy
  11. Great - let us know how you get on! Andy
  12. Remember that there are separate batteries for the turret and they have their own master switch. They are nothing to do with the vehicle batteries or master switch. Andy
  13. Perhaps a brief description of the IB3 would be helpful? There are two sockets on each side, marked ACTIC and HARNESS. The ACTIC ones aren't used in the Sabre and should not have anything plugged into them. The HARNESS ones have cables that daisy-chain through the other Clansman boxes such as the Commander's box you've already mentioned. You seem to have a cable in the ACTIC socket on the right-hand side - move it to the HARNESS socket below it instead. On the bottom of the IB3 there are four sockets marked A Set, B Set, C Set and 28V. A Set and B Set go to the two radios. C Set isn't used in the Sabre. 28V carries the power to the IB3. I can see from the last photo that A Set, B Set and 28V have cables as expected. Check that the cable plugged into 28V has power on it. If it does, then when plugged back in, you should hear a click in the headphones if you switch the IB3 on and off. Andy
  14. No, bottom right underneath the fuses. It's marked "28V" and there seems to be a black cable already connected, check to see if it has power on it. Andy
  15. Do you have power to the 28V socket on that yellow-fronted IB3 box in the last photo? Switching the box on and off should give you a slight click in the headphones. I also see that the harness cable on the right of the box seems to be plugged into the ACTIC socket instead of the one marked HARNESS. Andy
  16. Clive is the expert on Pigs although he's probably far too modest to admit it! Andy

    Tanks

Well, as you've already found this forum ... Andy
  18. Good point, I'd forgotten about the aluminium hull. Also closer to M6? Andy
  19. Depending on age of the vehicle either 1/4" UNF or M6 - I suspect the former for a Scorpion. Andy
