  1. I agree with Tony. If you have time however, take the cork/sump inside and heat both with a hairdryer, tape the cork on with some masking tape and leave it till morning. This will "train" the cork to lie where you want it. Alec.
  2. I use a Solex RZFAIP carb with a zero-degree starter on my 28hp, its war/prewar. If its the same as the one you are about to remove I'll gladly buy it off you for a spare. Give me a shout if you are up for it. Alec.
  3. These beasties take a lot of current. Does the control box not contain an interlock/relay to turn it off when the vehicle isn't charging? Hope you've a good alternator......:-D Alec
  4. Good grief, that's beyond a joke!!!!! :wow: Alec.
  5. Agreed, its no longer as advertised. If its cured itself its worth more moolah! Try it quick and see if you've increased its value...... Alec.
  6. Contacted Hendon, unfortunately no record exists for this beastie :embarrassed: Anyone able to offer an opinion of date from the registration - 71 AW 65? Alec.
  7. This is June, not April..... :-D :cool2: Alec.
  8. What the sodding stuff is?? :-D Alec.
  9. Clive, WHY do you insist on trying to give us migranes.........?? :-D To say whether or not it is a Controlled Substance? Alec.
  10. OK, orientating the crate or the first crate to allow the rest to be stacked in an order/sequence? Alec.
  11. Two supports/packers under a cylindrical section/one under each corner with a square section? :undecided: Alec.
  12. Hmm, Slinging or load-center marks? :undecided: Alec.
  13. Cheers for that Clive. I've got the IPC so far, I have a few EMERs heading my way shortly as well. Anyone an idea of date? Other than post '77? Lots of mentions of early 90s on that front panel. Would deepcut have records of trailers? I have only applied for self-propelled vehicles in the past...... Alec.
  14. Is the sump single or double skinned? PITA to seal/get good adhesion if there is oil between the two layers. Got that tee-shirt....... Alec.
  15. There's a picture alright!! :cool2::clap: Alec
  16. Keep continuous ventilation and invest in a couple of monoxide alarms for peace of mind. One beside stove and another close to sleeping area. Sleep safely but not like the dead..... :nono: Alec.
  17. Hi Folks, Finally got my grubby mitts on a Rapier type trailer, a FV2412 General Purpose 1-Ton trailer. Anyone able to date it approximately? Or tell me a bit about its contract/use and possibly some paint-penned marks.... Has the small jockey wheels (what were they used for? Moving around at shipping height?), has front and back stabiliser legs, no retraction gear fitted (no evidence of fitting either?) and large clevis pins with over-centre pins in each corner (looks to be quick attach/detatch for something?). Main Plate: Contract - 2905 0789 Reg - 71AW65 Serial Number 104 FV680300 (stamped into one of those small modification plates on the drawbar, rest of boxes scratched out.) Chassis/Body Plates: Contract - FVE21B/71 Chassis Number - 029 Body Number - 104 White Paint-Penned on top left of front panel, in order they are written: 2905-0789 (contract, I know that) CC11S (or LL115) D? 21-4-98 ?? ?-10-98 MK 21-1-98 MK 13-10-94 E08696010 TD 2-4-98 Large stencil, front panel top right and rear xmember: 476 (assume unit number?) Any help gratefully received. Alec.
  18. Hi folks, Can anyone recommend a replacement for OC600, as used on the suspension pivots on a 1-Tonne Sankey Trailer? I've had a read through Clives lubricant guide (ooh err missus), I think SAE90 would do. Any thoughts? Alec
  19. Hi, can we get a picture please? I think I know the ones you mean, I think the sleeves go on first and are eased on with pliers and lube. Alec.
  20. Most classic car/lorry places stock them. I got a couple for my Bedford off ebay, just watch the hole centers and the square size. Something like... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-STYLE-CHROME-LOCKING-DOOR-HANDLE-2-KEYS-GASKET-/321128131806?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ac4ba6cde Holden's have a fair selection if I remember correctly too. Alec.
  21. Hi Folks, I'm just finishing off putting together a reference pack/manuals on this little set. Need a little clarification on the electrical side of things. My set came with butchered wiring and a missing fuseholder, so I pulled it all out and remade it appropriately/safely! Has anyone got a set to hand who can tell me the: The type of fuseholder (pic would be nice) and the fuse rating? Also, if anyone can be bothered to take the cover off the generator, can they tell me: Is the fuse in the live line from the diode pack and is the ammeter in series with the fuse or in the neutral return line? It doesn't affect the operation, I would just like the circuit diagram to be accurate from a reference point of view. I have the ROC Handbook available online, currently looking for a better copy of the Villiers manual (have a lead I'm working on), any other documents would be appreciated, happy to scan and return as necessary. I'll make the reference docs available to the forum when I'm finished! Any info gratefully received. Alec.
  22. Well that's a new one on me, potato flour!!! I presume the bleaching part of the process is still the same, to ensure the whiteness?? As you say, replace Beets with Potatoes..... Alec.
  23. Agreed, It's a pretty standard de-hulling (or macerating), cleaning and bleaching (and/or grinding) process. The Rasper would tend to suggest Sugar Beet Root processing - tearing and macerating, with the settling tanks used for flocculation or raw sugar juice or the first stage of molasses extraction. You said earlier, however that it has nothing to do with sugar processing. The auger and bolter would tend to suggest post-1780 a-la Oliver Evans, flat belts were used until the 1930s (proven technology and useful for bucket elevators before air ejectors were adopted). The sketch would tend to suggest around the 1830 to 1900 mark though. Grinders were used for simplicity/cheapness but you can't beat stone or roller-grinding for flour. However I don't think flour/meal was intended here, unless in a lower grade (if army, that could well be the case), it looks more like pulp/waste processing. Again if beets were involved I would say its for producing feed/fodder for animals. Hmm...... :nut: That's my tuppenceworth, 'm going to go and lie in a dark room now, this is bothering me..... Alec.
