  1. Spare wheel mount is a Series LR one, nothing too special. Back to the oddities: Note also the lack of tie-down rings in the tub. Also short of a rear leg. Possibly an apprentice rebuild and parked in the corner of the workshops? In any event i bet it took a bit to coax it away from the hoarder Alec
  2. I've screwed my eyeballs in correctly now and spotted the hydraulic oil filters... Loadall 65 I would say on reflection. Fine old beasts, the back actors were fitted to a few things :-)?
  3. It looks like an early JCB 2B Mk1 to me. Some useful parts on it. I have a '66 JCB 3 Mk1, built within 3 months of the transfer from Ford to Nuffield. Mine based on the 10/42. Alec
  4. Hi Folks, Looking for information on Solex 40-RAIP Carbs. Parts List/exploded diagram/guidebook etc. Believe they were fitted to some of the Dodge WC Series. Cheers, Alec.
  5. Great stuff, many thanks for that! Now for a few hours hunting.... Alec
  6. Found the bulk of a manual online. Anyone have any knowlege of French Army documents/manuals and how they are termed? Workshop manual, parts book etc. I have the head gasket set sussed.... Alec
  7. Hi Folks, I have the chance locally to buy one of these Gallic Beasties in fair condition, uk registered (bonus!). Anyone have any experience of these little forward controls? It has running issues, need to do a compression test/possible head gasket. 817 Petrol engine, renaults own i believe. Any experience/advice gratefully received! Alec.
  8. Excellent, thanks for that concise answer. Alec.
  9. Hi Folks, What are the normal rear springs for a Rover 11 Ambulance? Is it the normal HD option or did they go for 1-tonne types? Does anyone have the extract from the parts peculiar list for it? It is one of the few bits of information I am missing on the thing! Alec.
  10. Correct Robin, Treble smoke discharges either side. Alec.
  11. Hi Terry I haven't done much actually. Its well-down on the list of priorities, sadly. Enough to keep it in good fettle though! What has been done is: Freed out/reattached all the hatches and doors. Rebuilt door handles and fitted common key barrels. Got the engine on the key. Jury rigged fuel tank. New clutch slave cyl. Freed out brakes. Rub down/rust convert, a prime and a few coats of Eggshell OD to protect the top. Oil sprayed the underside. So its wind, watertight and reasonably secure. Its given a good long run around (couple of miles), every couple of months to keep it sweet Still collecting parts, found seat bases and Trakmark relatively recently, along with a spare 900 bargrip tyre. Its well buggered but holds wind, fine for an emergency but wouldnt want to go far with it!! I love the beastie and Clive has been a wealth of knowlege. I managed to repay him a little after stumbling on a late Mk3 parts book which I scanned for contribution to the Shorland Site. http://www.shorlandsite.com Have a look, great resource! :cheesy: Here minus one hatch (paint drying): Alec.
  12. Thanks Folks, They must have got them stocked in the last couple of months, I've tried the usual suspects now for approx 3 years. Will try them again. Alec.
  13. Hi Folks, Does anyone have a picture of the water manifold to fit above trailer? I believe it is tee shaped with 4 taps. Looking to manufacture one as it has been bloody impossible to find one!! Alec
  14. Jumps to train the remaining cavalry officers? Alec
  15. Hi, I see various side tents offered for sale and was wondering about the nominal mounting height? From some publications it says the tall end is 4'6" and the short end at 14", yet in some pictures I see them hang happily off the roof of a 109 landrover and still touch the ground! I have the chance to get a Shelter, Scorpion and Fox, what would be the nominal height for mounting? Alec.
  16. Bay of Fleas. I have bought them for between 15 and 40 pounds, with about 12 pounds postage. Strip and clean, grease and fit a fresh retaining pin and its good for another 20 years! Alec
  17. I have done this, I stripped the guts and replaced with a good quality Yuasa sealed lead acid battery. Works lovely! Let us know how you get on! Alec
  18. Thanks for the info folks. I have narrowed it down to a 62 to 67 WM300. Next thing is, what do the folks who own the older WC generation have on their registrations? Historic/PLG/Special/Agricultural? And which (if any) exemption category do you use for MOT purposes? I do not wish an MOT/EXEMPT war of opinions, I see merits either way, I am just information gathering. Alec.
  19. Hello folks, I am planning another addition to the fleet. I have found a pair of Dodge Powerwagons, ex Danish army and UK registered. The best is a soft cab, the worst a hard cab with spectacular rust but good spares. Laid up for 20 years, but a straightforward recommission. I'm having difficulty nailing down the year and model designation. The salient points are: 10 digit chassis number, 24690XXXXX Vehicle, 2M300 Engine, R65M, 251 cui Both look like 1-ton models, 126 wheelbase, winches, short bed sides/tailgate and hoops/canvas. Anyone able to shed light/point me in the right direction? I would like to get a model designation so I can find/pour over a manual/parts list before negotiating. What I have found is that apparently 600 were bought by the Danish Army between 1962 and 1967? Don't want to post pics at this stage :cool2: Regards Alec.
  20. Nice features! I see its the British variant instead of the Dutch one. Haven't seen the convoy flag sockets fitted on one of these beasties before. Alec.
  21. The circumfrential black ring? A cracked insulator, someone being careless with plug leads? Alec
  22. Removable insulator possibly? Sealed down with a backing ring, before the two-part lodges appeared? Alec
  23. Hi Folks, Any fresh thoughts? Alec
