  9. I have been trying to suss this myself. All indications point towards satin (heatproof) black. It may have been gloss when first applied though... I was thrown a red herring before in the shades of eau de nil and sky blue, but I believe these were applied to army recons. It didn't help when I came across an orange factory/dealer reconditioned engine rebuilt in 1956! Alec.
  10. Hi folks, I'm tracing the history of a vintage lorry I own and have found a gap. Does anyone know of a scrap dealer by the name/nickname of Ron Greek in the Devon area? This would have been between 1994 and 2002. I would like to contact him if possible. Any assistance gratefully received, Alec
  11. Ah but it also depends on your interests, for some reason most suggest latrine-related things :-D The 14uV/m here is the constant where the other values are extrapolated. The real fun is that on a ship, unlike the general mass of earth, has a variable groundplane which changes due to salinity, sea height, deck-wash etc. Those old sparks had so much to contend with, yet single wire or dipole are still well-trusted systems. Alec
  12. How did you get on in the end? Alec.
  13. It had to be comms of some description! The various lengths and heights for different frequencies/strengths have been an embuggerance to shipping for many years!! Thankfully sorted out through a combination of digital and VHF these days.... :-D Alec.
  14. Radio antennas or direction finders for guiding the tanks onto the beach? Alec
  15. Nice Montego as well, probably a 1600 from the trim. Alec.
  16. If it was built in the north of scotland it would serve as the base/spine of a Scroo! :-D Alec

  20. Wouldn't have thought so, those poor little nylon slew ring wheelies have a tough enough job as it is!! Alec
  21. Hi all, I am looking for a twin pulley to fit a Lucas A133 alternator. Were 12v or 12/24v Snatches fitted with A133s, and were they twin pulley? (I have a mental image of the 2nd alternator slung on one side with a single belt?) What did Tithonus use? Alec
  22. Location of unit command posts? Red Infantry, Blue Armoured? Alec
