  3. I'm ahead off you there mate!! Ive had a look on google earth and theres a pub on the main road about a mile away :laugh:
  4. What the rivet counters don't understand is that service vehciles did, and still do get modified/painted by the people that drive them. My grandad during the war with the name of his 1st daughter painted on his motorbike;
  5. TBH, if your going to use motorways, I feel that you should be able to maintain 50mph. Alot of wagons are limited to 52mph now.
  6. What you really need is a light that flashes. I remember watching a documentry years ago about road saftey, there was a guy who had done loads of research and he worked out that people on motorways/fast A roads get some sort of "fixed vision". They see the vehcile in front and fix on it, but they just don't realise how slow it's going or indeed if it's stopped. It happenend alot of a night time when a vehcile had been in an accident and was stationery, the driver comming up behind is so fixed on the lights he has not noticed it has stopped. The guy worked out that once hazard lights and/or flashing ambers are switched on, the driver behind notices the vehcile very quickly. He campained for hazard lights to come on automatically in the event of an accident. If you are going to fit flashing led's, buy good ones.
  7. I reckon you will be alright just turning up at the gate.
  8. As you come into the site, it's on your right.
  9. It's not just motorways where other vehciles come up behind you fast. This is the incident that made me fit flashing ambers; When I go to shows, i'm always at the back and my dad is in the front, we were on our way to a show and was driving along the A30 west of london, it was about 4am. We were the only vehciles on this stretch of road, and in my rear view mirror I could see a vehcile comming up behind me very FAST. "he's going to go straight into the back of me" ! thought to myself. I slowed down, so to leave plenty of room fin front of me, grabbed the steering wheel very tightly and put my hazard lights on. At the very last moment the vehcile comming up behind slammed on his brakes, I could tell he slammed his brakes on as his headlights went down very sharply and then shot back up again. The 1st thing I did when I got back from the show was to fit the led's to my landy, they cost me £80, and worth every penny. TBH, I don't care about smart arse lawyers or the RTA, I do what is safe for me. Ive had them fitted for about 4 yrs and have never been stopped by the police.
  10. Ive been useing high visability flashing amber led's for years for this reason.
  11. Must admit, for the last few years ive gone to the local signwriters and had the lettering made up in pre spaced, self adehsive vinyl, so much easier.
  12. Me to. We had a guy camped next to us 1 year, he had a pitch the size of a football field, he kept telling us "my friends are comming down tommorow". No one else turned up!!!

  18. Bought these two at a recent car boot sale near me. I paid £2.50 for the padlock, major result:) I paid £5 for the box, ive googled the box information, but can't find anything about it, any ideas anyone?
  19. Ive been thinking about the overlord show all week. My understanding is that SOE(who run overlord) has about 100 members who pay £10 per year membership. And yet, they still managed to put put on, what was in my opinion, one of the best mv shows I have ever attended. Good site=check On site security=check Plenty of toilets=check Toilets cleaned 2/3 times a day=check Friendly staff=check Food outlets charging reasonable prices=check Beer tent with live bands=check Welcome gift=check Hot showers=check Plenty of fresh water sites=check. I think what made this show so good was the fact that it is run by mv owners who appriciate the fact that we, as fellow mv owners, attend thier show. The other major factor that helps is that it's not run for profit. Whilst I was there, thurs-mon, a member of the overlord team came over everyday and asked if everything was ok and should they change anything for next year. If overlord can do it, why not certain other big shows? I really do feel that overlord will become the premier mv event in the future.
