  1. Looking through this thread got me thinking that I have a few of these hanging around so looked out afe. Here we have a Pilatus P2 in Swiss colours getting a bit of Fuel at Booker. IIRC this would have been around 1982 Another Pilatus P2 but this time wearing a WW2 Luftwaffe paint job. This was late 80's at North Weald. A very low flying Spitfire at Biggin Hill, would have beed around 1981 and at a guess its Ray Hannah in MH434. Sally B at north Weald in an unusual formation with the Catalina/Canso (its one or the other anyway). Sally B with a fighter escort. The fighter escort making a low pass. Used to take a lot less photos in the days of film. Not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Trying to rember what camera I used. The North Weald ones would have been a Praktika MTL5 SLR, but the othes were most likly a Halina rangefinder with fixed lens. Mike
  2. Never thought about that, it probably has some effect, but maybe possible to just trim it. Both Spitfires in that post are modified 2 seaters. I believe the top one is ML407 which is a far less intrusive conversion and was undertaken in 1950 by Supermarine http://www.ml407.co.uk/pages/ There were 5 (IIRC) 2 seaters at Duxford in September Mike

I don't get one. but I have my pop up blocker turned on. I use Firefox and the blocker on that appears to be very good. Mike
  4. Gave up with Halfords for car parts quite a while back. Seems they are OK if you want over priced batteries, stereos of pimping bits, or anything for a push bike. Their tools are pretty good though, have bought a few and not broken them yet. Mind you also bought a few from the local "Indian" we sell everything shop, and ain't broken them yet either. Except a screw driver, they don't make good levers. Mike
  5. And apparently a leaky one under a multi storey car park in Sunny Tilbury. Mike
  6. Thanks guys, you both appear to have used the same stuff. However did you just use this or did you use the whole kit? http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8223&frostProductName=Car%20Tank%20Repair%20Kit&catID=25&frostCat=Tanks&frostSubCat=&subCatID= Mike
  7. Will follow up on a few of those, Really need to use something liquid as hole is not visible from outside, as reinforcement plate is in way. Cannot easily reach rear corner of tank via filler cap. Could probably try but may need fire brigade to get my arm back out. Mike
  8. or Mary had a little lamb One day it dropped down dead Now it goes to school with her Between two bits of bread. Mike
  9. Well after cleaning up a fuel tank, adding some protection to the rear, where holes normallly appear have added extra protection. Added a small amount of petrol to get rid of old residue and sloshed it about and I know have a boot full of petrol. My boots a know worth about £5 As far as I can tell it is leaking along the seam in the bottom left (near side) rear corner So now the dilema of what to do. Do I get some of that sealant you slosh around the inside? Has anybody used this stuff and if so how good was it? or Do I bite the bullet and buy a new mil spec tank for a S3 109? All opinions welcome Mike

    Fuel

If methane is a major greenhouse gas, I believe cattle produce it as well. As such an Ox cart is equally bad for the environment and "global warming". Therefore we should be running our vehicles on it. By burning it we get rid of the horrible greenhouse gas, so it must be an environmently friendly fuel and we can be paid to get rid of it. There is probably a flaw in this plan somewhere. Mike
  11. It was much easier when Henry Ford started. Any colour you like as long as it black. So he probably needs the black one. MIke

    Lent!

I think I will stick to alchohol. But I am thinking about giving up petrol. Mike
  13. Supposed to be reopening on March 19th after its winter break. Mike
  14. He was quitte lucky then. After all he could have fallen on his own knife Mike
  15. Would appear there are a few things missing from the map. Mind you if they put it all on the map you would not need to dive it. Mike

    Fuel

Saw something along those lines on an episode of Countryfile. A huge dairy farm in the US collects all the "waste" and processes it. They can produce enough "fuel" to make their tractors and trucks almost self sufficient. Not to forget Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome which was all methane from pigs. Mike
  17. Welcome in, you have come to the right place. Where abouts are you? Always quite liked Pigs, never been quite sure why. Maybe its the looks, Quite a distinct style. Used to help my Grandfather show his, when I was young, but they were Tamworths. so probably totally unconnected. Keep us posted on progress. Mike
  18. Apologies in advance to Rosie (and any othe fermale members) I thought all Hobnobs started off as choclate to save on production costs. The only difference is that the plain ones pass through a production line of women who remove the chocolate prior to packing. Don't laugh. Bloke at works mother used to do just this at Christmas with chocolate almonds. Mike

    Fuel

Those things are no good for tree hugging. By the time you have built up enough speed to wrap it aroind a tree the batteries go flat and you grind to a hault. Suppose it makes them safe though. Mike
  20. Wow a jeep driver waving at a Land Rover. He obviously wished he had a Land Rover rather than having to make do with a jeep:D:D Mike PS: Forgot to post Apache out of the office window in Chesham Friday morning.
  21. Its not on the map http://www.stoneycove.co.uk/beneath.htm Mike

    Fuel

Alternative to the batteries would be a couple of diesel generatore. Nope don't solve the fuel issue. Could install a coal fired power station on the back. Mind you might as well do away with the electric motors and go steam powered in this case. Mike
  23. Simples The quarry is now a diving centre and these and a few other items were dropped in it to keep the divers happy. Mike
  24. In that case it is a problem because you need permission and form filling and flashing beacons to put it on a highway. Mike
  25. Steve You are more than likly right, was also trying to simplify a few thiungs, and thinking solely of private cars. According to the artical it only weighs 4 tons. So well below any 7.5 ton limit. Perhaps he takes the other 11 odd tons out when he parks up to keep it safe. FV432 is 15 ton (according to Wikipedia) so this is probably a bit more. Mike
