Is it only certain munga models that would be fitted with Tirfa winches , sure I've got the same type of tirfa somewhere ,,, Its a very tidy cable store 'Munga8' do you know what thickness the wire cable is for that tirfa ? ,

does anyone know much history on these Commer cab Fords chap local to me has two of them , so if they were a rare truck in the day they must be very rare now ,, I've been trying to do research just to find a bit about them but after a couple of hours searching the net not really found much , anyone know of anymore of these Thames trucks ,, Regards Phil

This is the one that for some reason i thought was an international , Morris can anyone tell me what type it is , this truck and another still in military paint is a Thames trader ( Fordson? ) Weather was very misty so pic not so good

doing a very nice job , I've studied the pictures but cant quite work out how the drive gets to the rear axle , does it come from the first rear axle ?

think these products are OK to a certain extent but there are products out there better than penetrating fluids that can take more than a week to soak in ,, a fiend of mine that has worked around the world in different restoration businesses showed me this type of product that freezes bolts nuts ,, I've used a type of this liquid "freezes to a lower temp" to free seized door hinges ,,,,,,,, now if you use a freezing spray , then use a penetrating spray it should come free with ease ,, I've also used it on seized engines after them not coming free after filling bores with petrol and setting on fire , but if after filling bores with petrol setting on fire the engine still does not move try spray the pistons with freeze spray while the cylinder liners still hot then it should come free ,, check the link below Ambersil 6150003601 New! Maybe like me a lot of us cant go to sleep without checking what task you'll overcome next , I find this quite a magnificent build up right from the start ,such dedication and attention to detail so much so that I'll now take more notice of things like old trailers in hedgerows , the old bearings under the bench next to the steam cylinder , Don't think can suggest a better way of doing things as it looks that your already doing it the best way , sometimes its best to ask as someone might see a better way though ,

There used to be a Lightning on display not far from me , not sure were it is now , the power pack was still in a shed when I called round last year

It does seem such a shame that they have to use these machines as targets ,, I'm sure some old 500 gallon fuel tanks would serve the same purpose

its good to see a few of these , this looks like the later model early style body but later dash can't remember now but think they class it as the W461 ,, do you think this might be the Turkish built version , probably only got middle diff lock , There were some dutch ones over Catterick about a month back but didn't see any badges so not sure if G-wagen / puch G or Peugeot's P4 think they'd be the G wagens because there were hardtops as well as open toped ones

this is a good idea , I was just about to add dictionary to the wifes shopping list as the one i use is dropping to bits :readbook: , when i first joined the forum sometimes it would take so long to reply to some threads with a long reply that when hitting the "Submit Reply" tab was asked to sign in again and my reply was then lost :banghead: ,, so if I now think that the reply has taken a while to write I'll left click highlight the reply then right click mouse and hit copy , then if reply is lost can just start again and only takes seconds to right click then paste the reply ,, Stormin= Think this is why we get lost so often and for the wife to say " we've been past here three times now What have you seen" down-loaded spell checker and all that its pointed out is Stormin will now look out for this on other forums now:-)

There was a good write up in "old glory" of a holt gun tractor tucked away at a farm on the south coast Had a look for the isue but not found it yet ,, There's quite a good write up with some great pictures in Old Glory No.182 April 2005 = 1930 Holt tractor with a large gun turntable + another pic holt pulling two Aveling & Porter crane engines that are pulling a large Vickers gun at 41 tons ,, 15" diameter bore and 56ft long these guns were to guard the entrance to Cartagena ,, pics are from The Military Museum in Catagena ( Museo de Artilleria ) Regards Phil

can anyone tell me more about this type of truck ,, I've been told about an old truck that I used to see now and then , its now in a breakers yard , it has a roof hatch , 4 wheel drive? it could be an international , runs on petrol might be older than the above truck ,,, its never been reregisterd since leaving service was used on trade plates ,,,,, I know this seems a long shot , , might be able to go for a drive out at the weekend to try and get some pics Regards Phil
