  1. Still here and me glass is empty again and the other half looks to comfy to pester for a refill
  2. quite a bit of time to machine them couplings , was wondering what them spring loaded parts were 'clutch brake' who'd have thought it , like you say there'll be an art to driving it , great progress
  3. Happy new year all just toped my glass up , it doesn't seem that long ago all the commotion about the computers not being able to work out the date when they tripped 2000
  4. :sweat:don't think you'll achieve braking the record for most online at one time because not enough time to organize the only thing you might achieve is brake the bl00dy forum  that said i think I'll be about
  5. Happy new year to all from me at this end ,, Mark whats with your new Avatar :-D and is that Mutley in the front
  6. Thats right Rob I used to get up there in the late eighties when there was a lot of interesting vehicles ,, don't remember the type but they had a few American built? air base buses ,the V8 engines removed for grass tracking , Those were the days when the old giant 2 Stroke Eimco tracked loading shovel still worked , I was quizzing the old boys son trying to find a Spitfire wheel I knew about but he did not know of it ,,
  7. Thats a nice looking truck thanks for the link , don't know what condition the one I've located is in , it may have been left outside for a number of years , Just need some good weather for the day out now
  8. it takes some following knowing all the different names and numbers , like the C8 quads cdfw cd/sw I'll take the pics and let folk on the forum put a name to them because a lot of the time the people that own these machines may not know the proper name or number/initials , going to look up for some restoration threads on them next and the four wheel type just to get an idea of the chassis layout
  9. Welcome Gideon, I'm off to look at a 50's albion this next week , I'll also be putting some pics up of a matador that is in a real sory state , What age is the Foden that you have
  10. It was said that the ignitions were not to be opened after being turned on for 12 hours ,, Yes I thought it a bit strange for the police to come looking at the engine and when they did they didn't have a clue what they were looking at , It could of been a washing machine drum with a load of pipes on for all they new ,,,, some blokes not far from me have a couple pulse jets , make a right racket when they fire em up , not as bad as another chap though he's just got quite a large gas turbine engine to go in an old cortina
  11. Its looking great and looking at the pics in my eyes its going to be close to the correct ride hieght , but its not a big task to alter the hieght which if it is Wrong it'll only be a spline
  12. Yes thats the chap ,from what I remember most of his planes went into storage at a local Raf base until he found somewhere to keep them , not spoken to him for a while so not sure how he's got on ,, was up Leyburn a few weeks ago and was hoping to cut across to Redmire but was getting late so missed out ,
  13. Welcome KL, I know the W460 very well , designed to do a million miles as a millitary machine ,
  14. Hi , I've not sorted which day I'll be going yet but will get plenty pics ,,,is there anyone on this forum with one of the 6 wheelers ?
  15. Thanks for that Mike the bloke that bought the engine from me flew over from the U.S and was traveling up to a property in Scotland so I'd say that this is my old engine that is pictured , I just wanted to find out a bit more about it as I found the folder containing its details the other day , when he bought the engine he left me his website details but somehow I misplaced it ,it looks an Interesting website , When I bought the engine I went down to ( before name changed ) Teeside Airport to find out a bit about the engine and a mechanic came out with some cans of oil for it , and advised be to be very careful with it , one of his colleagues has white hair after getting a shock from the ignition ,, and another had fitted a similar engine into an allegro and on the second test run he said that the engine exploded sending a piece of titanium impeller through the bulkhead killing the driver so I never really did much with the engine , On getting home after the airport visit the police turned up asking to see the said engine saying that they had been informed by airport staff that the average man on the street should not have an engine like this , I showed them the receipts for the engine and they were happy and left ,,
  16. Hi that looks to have been a nice outing , Don't think I've seen them jeeps about but think the landy looks familiar ,, where did you go for bub lunch , brother gets up to Tan Hill he looks after their Hugland ,, Bit off topic but did you know the chap that was in the news midsummer East Cowton with some great model aircraft , some pics below the first was used in a film
  17. Hi, "Richard don't think this ones in preservation" think he has some vehicles that are tucked away , one is a Leyland Hippo said to have come from someone that got it from the last sales that Ruddingtons held /what year would that be? he also has a Humber , not sure what type , But I've got plenty of rechargeable batteries for my camera plus a spare camera for this visit as there'll be plenty of stuff of great interest
  18. Hi all , I've just got an invitation to view a few vehicles hopefully this week ,, one of the vehicles a Morris commercials is described as an older gun tractor with fluted bonnet and external steering box 6X6 with winch ,, anyone got an idea to the age going by the description ,,
  19. Yes the bloke I bought it from thought it might have been from a Tornado but then thought it might have come from a helicopter
  20. I used to have an international drott , now that was hard work pulling clutch levers and standing on the brakes it was all hand levers , engine clutch , left slew clutch , right slew clutch , gear selector , front loader controls to the right , two foot peddles one for each track brake ,, the only heavy tracked vehicle I have at the moment is a crawler tractor BTD6 with wide track and long undercarriage , just the same as the Drott but lighter so easier to operate ( play ) , but you'd still have to hang upside down if you had to remove the slewing clutches and split the main track frame supports to remove the engine
  21. That looks a good project , and like you say the 90s arnt quite big enough ( a 100 inch would be ideal) The last chassis my father had galvinised -went down to Hull , they picked them up and brought them back the next week , Will need to be shot blasted realy well ,, how far south east are you
  22. I had a problem like this on an old landy that had been sat for a while , it turned out to be corroded bullet conectors in the wireing harness , all it needed was to pull the conectors apart and clean up with wire wool or sand paper ,, sometimes the fuses can get bad connections as well ,, also the relays can corrode inside if wet has got to them , wish you good luck with the problem as ellectrics can be quite daunting at the best of times , but are quite simple on old landys
  23. Hi, gravity fed is just that and don't like been upside down , , water based paints really need good air-flow to dry also best with heat as in this weather will not dry to well ,, the primers and lacker are two pack type paints , Sealey will be a lot better than Clark parts like the O rings deteriorate ,
  24. They look very neat , as does the engine
