  1. Welcome aboard Frank, do you do stuff with 14th Armoured or 2nd Armoured, your toys look familiar? Just north of you sometimes, but for the last many years way east of you..
  2. I figured you would know, do you have any piccies of the ammo box, I think it was two shells for the British box, with cardboard tubes and end caps, I can get the 3 cloverleaf from the USA and make new tubes, I just want to know what would be more appropriate to use. Cheers.. This would be the cloverleaf, was thinking of getting a few of these and redoing 3 cardboard boxes and maybe a few wooden boxes, with original end caps for display. And the end caps to put on some cardboard tubes for the boxes. So would these be appropriate Adrian? And if anyone is interested I have a contact that can get more, 105mm, 3in and 155mm cloverleafs and end covers.
  3. OK, I am looking at what the 75mm ammo came in for the Cromwell, I know they used US ammo, did they use the US packaging, Cloverleaf 3 tube holders, single tube holders with end caps or have them in boxes etc.?
  4. Very nice Maurice, have a safe and great trip..
  5. Very nice indeed, glad parts are still available or we would probably be casting more!
  6. Tony at Axholme Signs I second, par none....
  7. So if that is the case pre 44 vehicles seem to have a blue circle- then in 44 appears to switch to uniformity for a Red circle etc, around header tank. HSC MK II Oct 1944 calls for a Red circle painted around the header tank when antifreeze has been added to the system. DAC: I did not see anything in the DAC handbook. Cromwell MK I 1943, blue band painted around header tank. Cromwell MK VII Jan 45 when the cooling system has been filled with antifreeze, the header thank should be marked as laid down in Current instructions. This mark must be painted out if the cooling system is drained and is not refilled with antifreeze solution.
  8. Yes that was the one, even with diligence and doing everything right accidents still happen. People are still amazed when the see military vehicles, my LR 90 I get asked all the time if I am still in the military, or if I am wearing BD at an event, they ask what service are you in, when they see scout cars, they want to know if that is modern or not, so I do think we need more people to realize the sacrifice that others have given before them, that is one thing I like about the US, is that even though political whatever is always around, there are tons of communities that try to keep the history and sacrifices of this given remembered. At least we don't have a reenactment of Washington being burned down hmmmm maybe that would be.....
  9. Pierre, I definitely could use more of those, I have tracked down and few, but I know that Rick will need more for the Churchills too, so yes I will take 1, 2, 3, let me know how many, also can you can't track down a turret or a No21 bow gunners mount?
  10. Round or two piece, beggars can't be choosers, unless I get to buy yours too, then I could have both...but that might require selling the HSC, house and first born So you think only 1 rad needs to be fixed, that sounds pretty good, did you just straighten out the other one? How is the steam/power washer working?
  11. Adrian, is the jack a 6 ton or 8 ton? Also do you have any of the loose kit items stored in the lockers, or are you making any duplicates, like the multitool (combo tool) etc.? Also when you get a chance, let me know the cost for the kit that we talked about so I can pay you.
  12. Buy a sim card when you are there (if your phone allows that), for 15-20 quid and you will have no problems, check with Marcus Glenn, he has most of your list. I have 4 good Firestone 9.00x16 run flats, they are not the exact type you want for the ferret, but will work, I took them off of my Humber Scout car after I found the correct ones. http://marcusglenn.com/parts Wheel brace Tow cable and chains Periscopes Paper Manuals you can get from Ebay or http://www.shop.milweb.net 1919 MG Mount (was one on ebay last week) Stove and cooking kit Ebay, tons the last few weeks Engine cranking handle British jerry cans Ebay US and UK Jerry can pour spouts most UK militaria and ebay Intercom setup for ferret http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Daimler-Ferret-Technical-Handbook-Base-Repairs-V624pt2-/360889191595?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item5406ac0cab http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Daimler-Ferret-Scout-car-Mk1-2-Maintenance-Shedule-/360753374086?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item53fe93a386 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Daimler-Ferret-Scout-car-EMER-V622-Maintenance-manual-/310858798781?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item4860a0d6bd http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Daimler-Ferret-Scout-Car-User-Hand-Book-12174-/360856509786?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item5404b95d5a http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Daimler-Ferret-MK2-Stowage-sketches-FV260849-/310963603171?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item4866e006e3
  13. Adrian, thanks, I was just wondering, when they did my oil pressure gauge it was leaking some by the gauge itself, but I think it was from a loose fitting, I don't think there is a problem anymore. When I had my gauges rebuilt, I had them put on new lengths of cable/tubing etc. so if Kevin just has the gauge, I am sure Kevin/or a rebuilder can do the correct length. I will check with Rick, supposedly my other 2 gauges are there, but might just need to be rebuilt and tidied up.
  14. Adrian, do you have the parts number etc. for this gauge, it might be the correct one that I need for the HSC too. I will have to check with Rick to see if I have the gauge, I think it is still in the tank.
  15. Looking good. Would like to have one of those too.
  16. Yea know what u mean but could probably use the gun mounts and maybe some internal bins but who knows.
  17. Ahhh haa, yes no wonder it is a different mount and optic, it has the 90 degree bend in it and takes the place of the periscope, see that is why you are one of the experts. So I need a No 21 MK I everyone, so everyone start looking, get to the tank range and pull one of them bastages off for me. Also we talked about this before, do you think it would still be useful to track down a AEC turret, since it used the 75mm gun and had the Besa mount in it?
  18. They did, the 3rd is now at Ricks... Shaun, if you are getting those spare road wheels from those vehicles you are cutting up, we can trade for the internal bins etc. if you require them, or I can buy them, any word on them?
  19. The governors operate by short circuiting the high tension current to the sparking plugs. This results in unburnt mixture passing to the exhaust pipes and exploding there, It is, therefore, bad practice to "drive on the governors." Each magneto is fitted with an automatic advance and retard mechanism and governor which limits the engine speed to 2550 rpm.
  20. Adrian, that is very interesting, in my Cromwell I literature they call it a Machine Gun, No. 20 Mounting. The MG mounting is of the gimbal type and is situated forward in the vehicle, on the left of the driver, the inner mantlet and cradle in which the MG is mounted moves both vertically and horizontally in an outer mantlet. The No 35 MK I is fitted to the left of the mounting and is moved by parallel link and lever motion. In the Cromwell MKVII literature it is called a No. 21 MK I. So it appears there were two different mountings...is this correct?, so I would assume the later No. 21 MK I is the same as the Comet.
  21. Shaun, whatever you decide to do with the Charioteer my internal bins will be available from mine, also have you heard back or have you started breaking the Centurions, for the road wheels etc.? Also if you come across a bow gunner No20 mount I am still looking for one.
  22. Welcome Adam, I don't know jack about those, but it sounds fun.. I want to do that in a Land Rover..
  23. Welcome aboard, I work with a few and need to get down there soon...
  24. Welcome fellow Amerikan...are you a Texan by birth or immigrated to the Lone Star state from another state?
