  1. Got news the Cromwell has arrived up at Ricks and was unloaded...
  2. I would have to agree, that is why we see Daimler Dingo MKII and MKII W/T, same as the GMC Otter etc. some vehicles did not have a wireless set. If these were from Ukraine, maybe they were sent East with lend lease 19 sets etc. in the vehicles and they came equipped instead of having WS installed by Russia. Plus in 42 I don't think all armored vehicles had WS sets, I still think aerial flags were still being used by some. Maybe someone else can chime in.
  3. Welcome aboard, time to join the rest of us fanatics.:cool2: As you can see Singe likes Daimlers, others prefer US vehicles, then their are the others...... like me that like Brit stuff (but I am a yank), so when the time comes you will get your feet wet like the rest of us.
  4. Cromwell shipping is booked and will be arriving at Ricks place in Manchester on the 27th of March, then we should get to go through the bins and boxes on the 28th, and then I will get to visit Ricks lovely Cromwell for a spin around the airfield in Norfolk... plus a few pints while I am there.. So as Rick said in a previous post, as soon as I start throwing money his way it will get underway, so hopefully around July/August the resto will start taking place, some small things will be done first, engine to get checked etc. but hopefully full tilt within the next 4-5 months..
  5. Nice find, great to save another piece of history from the scrap man..
  6. Same issue as the Humber Scout Car, no floor armor whatsoever.. Just regular flooring, so a mine would just destroy the interior, that is why you don't really see the HSC in Recce Rgts, unless they were used as liaison or troop leader/commanders vehicles for some overhead protection (elements, small arms and shrapnel), plus it was a little more roomy than the dingos.
  7. Well I was talking about yours, want to see the beautiful one, not the rusty one..
  8. Any word on it getting back to your place, I will be there in a few weeks..
  9. Very good job on the carrier, I like that DAC, can't wait to see more pictures of that..
  10. Bill I think I am further, I live in the states, work in the middle east and the tank is in the UK, so I will only get to see it during hops across the pond and whatever Rick puts up, might have to buy him a new digi camera to take photos..
  11. Looking good Rick, those parts look very nice too, can't wait to see the other parts that are included when we get the shipment up to Manchester.
  12. I know John...but it would be fun, I would be afraid that the springs or something important would break and cost a lot of money to fix.
  13. Well Rick has a few, maybe after others will stop bothering him, he will get back on his other projects :-D
  14. And there will be no more Wight Armour Restoration, Dave and ex-partners are supposedly selling of their armor that they own and will do no more work.
  15. Let me bring my med kit then, so I can put humpty back together again after the experience. I think some morphine, lidocaine and sutures will probably be needed..
  16. John, now that is just rude... Break your own toys, don't give Rick any ideas!:-D
  17. You are never satisfied are you? :-D Why do you always have or get other things that I want? Nice haul!
  18. This really is a trick question, if you rebuild something to the exact dimensions, schematics and use techniques or parts that they would have used, is it a replica? My HSC has the original chassis, reproduction floor plates, original armor, reproduction external storage bins, rebuilt engine with NOS parts, new wiring and fuel system, and new reproduced radiator. Is this an original or reproduction? Halftracks and carriers with reproduction armor, wheels that get new rubber etc. If you start with something that is original and have to reproduce components I would consider it an original with some reproduced parts. Look at the jeeps out there, you can get complete jeeps that every single component could be reproduction. I think it really depends on how you look at it. So my Cromwell started life as a Cromwell, then modified into a Charioteer and will be turned back into a Cromwell, I will probably not be able to find a turret, so a reproduction turret will be made, but to exact specifications, thickness with original pieces and reproduction pieces, when the Cromwell is finished is it an original or reproduction? Reproduction to me is reproducing something to make it look like an original, such as the SdKfz 222s, Stug's, Pzr IIIs, kooble cars etc.
  19. I will ditto Rick, nice choice of tank to reproduce. Yours looks better than mine right now
  20. Bonjourno...Believe me English is not always English, as long as we see pictures and can figure out the meaning we are good, I have to have a translator sometimes, since I speak American English and have British, Australian, Scottish, Welsh and Kiwi accents and words here where I work.... Welcome aboard.
  21. I would like to thank Rick for going down to the Isle of Wight 2 times for me in the last week to look over things and to give me good info to finalize the deal and take the final payment today and pick up some new parts for her (well I should say bribed), so tentatively she will ship up to Manchester around mid March and then he will start some preliminary work, engine sent off for a check to see if it can be possibly rebuilt, or if I will have to source another Meteor engine, the transmission will be looked at, some bits and bobs out to inventory etc. Just some minor things for a few months, then hopefully some tearing into. I will be visiting late March, so I will take more pics of her... So countdown to W&P 2015! :cheesy:
  22. OK that might just work out fine and be cost effective for both, where is the half track located? I am looking to maybe ship July, early August to be there (UK/Holland) by beginning of September, is the HT a rolling chassis, armor, or just bits and bobs? We would probably need a 40Ft container then, I am looking at shipping my HSC to the east coast near Pennsylvania to ship, if the HT is by me, we might be able to send them both via a truck up to the waiting area to be put into a container to ship, so you guys have a HSC, very nice, I know most of the owners, who is your uncle, is it restored or waiting to be restored?
