  2. i had a great Beltring, met Rown, Dotty dodge at membury at 2.30 am sat 15th & after stopping for a wake up walk at reading, bracknel & clacket lane we landed at 7am. set up camp, chatted etc ate & went to bed at 9pm to the sound of the Sex Pistols from the group behind us. we woke at 7am to the sound of the Sex pistols with the thoughts that we hadn't actually slept. some poor MV owner had packed up & moved but we complaind to Rex & fair play to him we didn't get any more hassle. I heard the marshalls on many occasions telling people on quads to slow down & i also heard the abuse they got back. wednesday & thursday in the beer tents were great & i could be found boogying on down in Kitcheners till 1am & then finishing off in Gingers till 2.30 am.. I took my own 12 v shower which was fab & we had 3 toilets in our area, it is cheaper the more you have as you only pay for 1 lot of del & pick up charge. we had a 10ft pool, A 20ft cinema & a central shelter to hide from the sun. we don't mind walking backwards & forwards to & from the stalls etc as it burns off enough calories to allow us to have a few drinks & cope with the munchies when we get into bed. the staff & other customers at waitrose were so friendly & always chatted when we went in, 1 old lady said she loved seeing all the vehicles driving round town, maybe it is the younger generations who don't like us being there. I didn't see any fights till the friday/sat night when all the weekenders had turned up & even then it was only in Gingers & Rex was on the scene those 2 nights keeping an eye on things. When the girl collapsed on saturday night it took seconds for him to call for back up & the ambulance & the tent was cleared in no time. It was so much better than last year from what i saw. I suppose it depended on where you were & when as to what you saw & didn't see but for me it was great. The marshalls do have a difficult job & they also get a lot of stick, how many of you could take that much abuse & not fight back? i know i couldn't. They know where the problems are but enforcing the rules on 10 thousand plus people is a thankless task. well done guys & see you next year. ta Berni
  3. i had the good fortune to go on the Jimmy run on thursday & then on friday in the heat i donned my tanky jacket & helmet & stood in the back of a friends half track while we played in the arena & then did the WW11 armour run round the show site after. the arena was real bumpy and when the halftrack went over a hillock i lost my footing along with a couple of other guys & a poor unsuspecting GI on the other side ended up wearing me as a necklace :-o its all good fun ta Berni
  4. rommells car was on the main drag through the monktons field to the exit. it was in a big white party tent on the right hand side. ta berni
  5. WOW, great photos & after visiting a camp myself i can fully understand why you didn't take pictures, i couldn't either. maybe one day i'll get to see these sights for real thanks for sharing your pics cheers Berni
  6. i can't believe i missed you jack.... i did meet enigma & i must apologise for not chatting as we were in the middle of breakfast & after a few beers the night before cream cheese & pagen rolls seemed a good option. i also met ashley, hi ashley, we just got back & russ is much worse so it's back to A & E for us. The Jimmy road run on thursday was fantastic. 32 of us hit the highway & it looked fab. there are loads of photos but i'm not unpacking till tomorrow so will post them in the next couple of days ta from a tired berni
  7. there are 3 of us going up in a small convoy but we are leaving home at midnight on friday & meeting at membury services at 2am saturday morning. we find it much easier to travel during the night when there is less traffic on the roads & once we have set up camp we all have a sleep. ta Berni

    Tire pressure...

i just thought i'd ask the question for all the other chappies out there who may have been too embarrassed to ask for themselves... we do need to check ours as the Jimmy is now going to beltring and i thought i would look real smart if i looked as though i knew what i was doing. ps it was a very good answer jack & you should feel proud that you knew it. ta Berni

Evening Russ. What are you looking to replace it with? :naughty: Hi Jack , Im looking for a gun ring and a 50 cal for the gmc at beltring and that will probably cost around £2000 so something has to go . The plan for next year is to build a late wartime vw beetle ambulance . cheers Russ

  13. welcome neil, this is my first season with a jimmie & so far it has been interesting. a few problems that we have been able to get sorted in the field & my philosophy has been " well if we replace it now it should last another 50 years" there are quite a few jimmie owners on here so no doubt your servvices may be called upon. ta berni
  14. i use it loads every year, and never had a problem, the driver last year even bought me & a friend right into the site cause we had loads of heavy shopping & it was too far from the main gate to the americas field. it does only go fromwednesday till sunday though & on the peak times at the weekend they use double deckers i can only speak as i find & it has served me well over the last few years. oh well it can't work for everyone i suppose. cheers Berni
  15. :-ooohh, totaly unfair guys :-D we aren't all like that all the time some of us have a little sympathy :yay!: :yay!: ta berni
  16. the hop farm provide a free bus from the train station every 20 mins or so. it runs till around 6pm ish from wed - sun. ta Berni
  17. welcome aboard to you too snapper. enjoy the site cheers Berni
  18. welcome zoomer, i'm sure the wife will come round eventually, most do given time. i am normally the first to book us into shows & then tell russ where we are going. looking out for someone laden down with camera equipment at beltring may be a little difficult as every other person is laden down with camera equipment, but i'll look out all the same. enjoy the site & welcome again ta Berni
  19. the pub at the entrance is a brewers fayre so the prices are set nationally & a decent meal will set you back about 6.00. during the day there is a free bus service to the train station at paddock wood & it goes from outside the main entrance. you just have to walk over the bridge to the other platform & waitrose is on the corner. there is also a bakers, butchers, fruit & veg store, newsagents & a small tesco on the high street. in the americas field on the far side is a walkthough the hedge to get to the next village, they have a great chinese & it is in walking distance with the food still being hot when you get back. the onsite naffi is expensive but if you are really desparate for something they will bring it in for you if you ask them.( i have my mags bought in) ta Berni
  20. i have to admit to roping a large area off on the saturday but then we do park the vehicles at least 4 metres apart & the same with the tents, i don't feel comfy having another tent so close to mine the guy ropes cross over. what we then do is park everyone up & move the rope in accordingly from around wednesday. this has normally worked really well over the past few years as it does give late comers a decent space to park up. last year we were surrounded by open space & people took it all because it would have been empty otherwise. we always go straight to the far Americas field as it is less crowded & a lot less dusty . ta Berni
  21. having experienced vapour lock in the bedford we always carry a small flask of fuel just to pour in the carb to get it going again. came in handy a couple of weeks ago on the way up to nibley as it happened in the jimmy on a country lane on a steep gradiant upwards without any room for anything to pass. only stopped us for 2 -3 mins luckiy for those behind us :-D ta Berni
  22. a second HI from me & welcome aboard guys, ta Berni
