we had 2 jimmys & a dodge in convoy on the M4 & M25 & it was between 1am & daylight so we thought it best really. Berni

we only use 1 on a motorway but more to warn others that there is something up ahead that may be slower/bigger than the norm. we don't use 1 on day to day A/B roads. i think other road users appreciate it because they tend to move lanes far earlier than they may usually have done. i feel safer knowing we have warned the general public to be a little weary as so often a modern vehicle has come racing up behind us & had to slam their foot on the brakes as they haven't realised we are going so slow compared to them. Berni
  4. i avoid the edges like the plague as most of them are near the water & the amount of mozzies & other biting flying insects are soo annoying :argh: another reason i avoid the edges is because that is the route most people take when driving round so you get everything covered in dust :banghead: Berni
  5. full name bernardette but too long & parents couldn't think of a middle name to go with it so i shortened it to berni years ago, nan always called me Clara, but berni has stuck Berni
  6. we always go down on the saturday before & spend the first few days chilling out & watching the show grow, it is so much better to look around before the public days & have a relaxed beer or two. it makes sense to have a good break if we are spending 6 hours driving to a show. we leave around 1am to arrive just after 8am & stop 3/4 times on the way. berni
  7. we should have a coned off area for parking & the police have been informed of our route in case of reports of slow moving / almost stationary traffic so hopefully not too many hassles, those in civvy cars should be able to squeeze in front of the museum. pop over for a chat if you are around. the ring road round ciren is so easy to navigate, makes it much better for all the shows we go to in that neck of the woods Berni
  8. hi radar, have you got a landrover or are you going to be looking for 1 anytime soon. There are a fair few people on the forum with the same period vehicles who could pass on good advice if you need it, keep posting Berni
  9. that was a seriously impressive vehicle & deserved best in show, welcome to the site & please post some photos of that gorgeous scammell. Berni

  11. i have to get up for work at 5am monday to friday so i'm afraid on a weekend i catch up with most of my lost sleep. we were up but not ready, i couldn't decide what to have for breakfast so ate a banana & strawberries. it was a most enjoyable afternoon & i was surprised to see a dozen or so people i knew. i always seem to have a mishap that is never my fault & this time i ended up wearing a cup of tea when russ banged my elbow.( it was quite funny though). catch up with you on Sunday for the road run rowan, ta Berni
  12. hi there, have you got snow where you are, if so i am soo jealous you'll soon get the hang of the spanner side of things & there is plenty of advice on here for you. happy new year Berni
  13. hi there Jim, welcome to the site, don't let Russ see your full MV list he may just want to add to our collection keep sane berni
  14. myself, russ & rowan ( dotty dodge) will be there as well, we are going to cheat & go in modern vehicles but we will all be dressed for the 4o's. russ & Rowan in Brit kit ( glosters) so come & say hi if you spot us. Berni
  15. thats a shame lee, there will be a lot to look at, Jack, Ciren town centre itself can't change that much but the suburbs have grown somewhat, or did you mean greasy joes has changed. it has 4 brick walls now instead of a portacabin it should be a good day though. :-) ta Berni
  16. sunday 7th january 2007 Cotswolds Convoy Run. Moreton in Marsh Air Museum is where we are heading. entry is £2.00 which all goes to the upkeep of the museum. There are a fair few pubs nearby for a sunday lunch & a warm up. Meeting point 1 is at Greasy Joes in Cirencester just by Tesco at 10am, leave at 10.30. Meeting point 2 is BladesCoffee Shop on the Fosse Way at Northleach. Blow the cobwebs off your mv & join us for a leisurely drive through the Cotswolds. Berni Pitt 01452 303254

  20. Hi Mike . Its Russ here Iv'e often thought about useing fabric paints which you can get at a local hobbycraft .
  21. i also pay the £25 quite willingly, we always camp for 9 days & the £25 does get a family of 4 in for the duration which is much cheaper than £13.00 each for 1 day. i love it and always book it from 1 year to the next to make sure i get the time off work. great weather, great friends, great stalls, great socialising with like minded folk never before met & great dancing. my Jimmy will be back there next year for sure. berni
  22. we had insurance through road sure & they had an 'off road' policy that was 15.00 for the year as long as it was imobile. all we did then was as soon as we put it on road we paid the difference. this was about 6 years ago so it may have changed Berni
  23. welcome & congrats on the pinkie, great vehicle from a dead jealous berni
