  1. Is there any way to see if one side is heating up more than the other when driving in a straight line? If one side is binding more than the other then this would heat up more? I've no experience of tracked armour so can't offer any more advice..
  2. Nice looking truck, nearly as big as the bear!!! That wrecker didn't hang about long. Did David use it for his recovery business or has he just sold it on?
  3. Hello people. I've been asked by the organiser of the ABINGDON AIR SHOW if there are any members of the forum that own an Air Traffic Control vehicle, or know someone that does. He has said that their vehicle has to go into the workshops for some repairs and they are stuck for an ATC truck. He would be very interested in anyone who would be able to supply one for the Abingdon Air Show. I'm sure this would be a great opportunity for someone who owns one of these to see it used in the role it was designed for. He has said that it will only be required if their vehicle isn't out of the workshops in time. Please contact me via PM or on here if you can help out. Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I can't find the post regarding someone after some WOLF wheel rims. Withams have a set of five brand new still in the box for sale in their auction. Here is the link. http://www.mod-sales.com/auction/vehicle/related/27817/5_X_WOLF_WHEEL_RIMS_LAND_ROVER_BOXED_and_UNUSED.htm#
  5. No problem mate. I look forward to seeing you there. Weather!!!! It's not been to kind the last few years has it??:-(
  6. I wouldn't have thought it's you as you would know that you have spoken to me about it. This guy is in Alberta. Looks like there is a lot of interest in it.
  7. Does anyone know about, or has seen the FV 434 that Marcus Glenn has got up for sale? I would love to hear from anyone who has seen this vehicle or who has any information on it whatsoever. I have a friend in Canada who is desperate to buy one. I have told him about it and he has already emailed and phoned him up about it but I wanted to ask on here if anyone has any info on it that I can pass on. It looks in good nick. Regards Andy

Land Rover Defender 110 TUM 12/24v FFR Hard Top Previous vehicles; Land Rover Series 3 LWB 12v GS Soft Top Land Rover Lightweight 24v FFR Soft Top. I'd like to expand the collection when money allows.:cool2:
  9. There are still some big snow drifts around Birdlip Hill and around Devizes, some still 3ft deep. Looks like we are in for more snow on Wednesday but the temperature looks like it's going to be too high for it to settle.
  10. Hello Smithy, This is a new show. It was organised for the first time last August in 5 weeks by the Birmingham and West Midlands MVT. I went to the first show and was pretty impressed with the facilities. You got free entry into the museum which was pretty interesting. The museum has a restaurant and bar and in the evening on the Saturday there was live entertainment. You got 4 free vouchers per entry that allowed the holder to claim 4 free cups of tea or coffee a day and a free burger from the all day BBQ (which was on for both days) There was a steady stream of public that entered the show throughout the weekend, many that had never been to a Military Vehicle show before. They have 88 acres of fields, one of them that you could drive around in. Considering it was their first show it was pretty good and it has the potential to be a very good show. The weather wasn't too great and some that said they were going to turn up didn't. Hopefully the weather will be better this year as it's in May this time. It's only an hour from me so I will be going again. There is no info at the moment regarding the show, but I will post a link when one becomes available.
  11. Hello Paul, I've got a Defender 110 TUM with the 2.5 NA engine, LT77 gearbox, and Salisbury rear axle. Mine will cruise at 60mph no problem and will get up to 80mph after 10 minutes but I never do that unless it's just for a few minutes to clear the engine out. We had a Discovery in Cyprus with the UN that had a 200TDI and that would do 80mph all day no problem and still return over 30mpg. We went up to Donnington and back in a WOLF 110 from Aldershot doing 90mph all the way there and back and it still had plenty left. Has this always done this speed? Have you got a rev counter fitted to see what the RPM is? It sounds to me like the LT77 is too low geared for the 200TDI, having been designed for the 2.5 NA diesel. I've forgotten what transfer box these have but I think it's a LT230. I could be the diffs too. I reckon if you put the disco diffs in, then replace the gearbox with a R380 would that work? What about an Ashcroft box?
  12. Martin, What do you reckon this would do to the gallon, about 8 mpg? I see you have got an M35A2C. Very nice. Is it that one with the tiger stripe sort of paint job that was for sale at Beltring a few years ago? What do you run your trucks on? My mate only uses Diesel and old engine oil in his M109A2.
  13. I'm also one of those who wouldn't bother with a piece of kit if it was "POA". Bodge Deep hit it on the head. They just want a stupid price and know if they put the price down no one would touch them with a barge pole. Why not put a ONO price up, always room to haggle.
  14. I'm going to book this one up if nothing more "Military" is on the same weekend. Some Marshalls do seem to be complete numpties. You see the same at W&P. One minute they are wearing their red marshalls tee shirt telling you you can't do this and that and then the next they are driving their Gamma Goat well over the site speed limit past pedestrians with no attemp to slow down.
  15. Hello mate, What did you use the wrecker for as it was un registered up until a short while ago? It's a lovely looking truck. Has it got all the equipment with it? I notice in the picture the welding gas bottles are missing. Do you know where the truck came from, was it US or Germany based? Also is it a growler or a whistler? Cheers Andy
  16. I've already got a box bodied truck, a Bedford MJ with a Radar Repair Workshop body and yes, I camp in that and it's a brilliant bit of kit. The insulated body is a god send on cold nights. I need to get a generator to power all the ancillaries in it though. I've always wanted an M series US truck as I think they look the dogs. I would love a wrecker as it's something different and would probably prove quite useful with the crane (for the one time you would need it - engine change in the Defender perhaps!!:cheesy:) M109 A2 as in Workshop Bodied M35 A2. My mate has one and it's a nice bit of kit.
  17. Just been to Tesco's and saw the fuel is now £1.13.9 for diesel. Are they having a F laugh. That's about the third rise in about two weeks round here. They constantly tell us that they can't drop the price when it's going down as they buy in advance. So why is it when more people are using fuel over the last few weeks due to the cold snap the price rises immediately? It's daylight robbery pure and simple...:banghead:
  18. Well, what can I say...:wow: I met him in the days when he was first on the TV. He had his own engine, did all his own cleaning, was in coveralls and covered in coal dust and soot, was very personable and down to earth. I can't speak for what he was like after, but it looks like fame changed him, but then doesn't it change everyone?
  19. According to Withams the "combat" weight is 10,170Kgs. That's a HGV2 (Cat C) licence required. However it says the production run was from the 50's to 1972, so if you get a pre 1960 version you should be able to drive it on a car licence as it would be registered as a pre 1960 historic vehicle.
  20. So what other goodies has he got that might be coming up for sale? Of course it would be very rude not to check it out:cool2: For the price £10,000 ono (doesn't say if it's plus VAT) that's Ural 4320 V8 diesel box body territory) He did import some top condition trucks back in the day. Has he got any cargo M35's or M109's in his collection or just the new kit?
  21. That's why I wanted to go instead of Abingdon, a nice 3 day show to kick off the show season. Fair point ref fuel though. Last time I was at Stoke I had a chat with Fred Dibnah (in the beer tent of course). I even got his autograph. Top bloke, sadly no longer with us.
  22. Really. Not been to this one so can't say what it's like. So what's the story with this lot then Mike?
  23. Unfortunately it's on the same weekend as the Green Machine weekend at Stratford Armouries and that's where I will be going. So many shows, too little weekends...:undecided:
  24. If you can get to Rushden, why not Stoke Goldington, there are more or less next to each other? I would love to come to this event, but it's on the same weekend as the Abingdon Air Show and the Mrs wants to see her planes. She stated that as we are going to the Stratford Armouries show the following weekend she wanted to go to Abingdon (well who am I to argue):undecided: I hope you have a good time there, it is a very good show.
