  1. The track clamp is 5120-99-825-8660 Chris
  2. I've been all the way through the common items parts book and it isn't listed, so it's probably specific to one of the variants. I may have recognised it if you'd taken a photo of the clamp rather than the box. Chris
  3. Robin, ABRO picked some vehicles with good hulls and bought them to use for spares. A number of Scimitar hulls were scrapped for cracking and all the parts were swapped onto Sabre hulls. I have some photos somewhere of a diesel Scimitar which was built from a Sabre. I remember talking to the guy at ABRO about buying one of these Sabres back in 2006. Chris
  4. BLMF is Banja Luka Metal Factory, so it looks like it spent a bit of time out in Bosnia. Chris
  5. Hi Dan, I've owned CVRTs for 10 years nearly now. You will have no trouble finding bolts, bearings etc that fit but I don't think these are the parts you'll be changing too often. The bits you will wear out are wheels, sprockets, track, belts, brake pads, master cylinder kits and filters. While it's possible to find some standard off the shelf replacements for some of these items the rest are vehicle specific and usually need to be bought from military surplus dealers. CVRTs are great fun, the Spartan is also the best variant for taking people for rides etc, so don't let this put you off . There are other owners in your area shipping things from the UK regularly and my advice is to share some container space and buy yourself a kit of basic spares to keep on the shelf. Some spare track, a set of wheels etc is much cheaper to ship this way and while fairly easy to find right now in the uk may get harder once the vehicles go out of service. Chris
  6. If you are making the seals you'd need to be careful with the material selection etc. They are about, but fairly expensive... http://www.thexmod.com/item_detail.asp?id=7148 Chris
  7. I found this on my hard drive while looking for the scan....
  8. Paul, These are MCT (Milan Compact Turret) vehicles, they will have come from BATUS where they were used as OPFOR vehicles. Chris
  9. There are drawings in the manuals showing the propeller arrangement, but I doubt any were ever used. I'll see if I can find a scan I did some time ago .
  10. I'm not sure if anyone on here was lucky enough to buy this vehicle in the tender this week, but it is one I have actually seen before in service. Here it is in the tender sale: Here it is on 11th June 2007 at Wellington Barracks in London, in service with the Household Cavalry. Chris
  11. The answer is probably none for all 3 I'm afraid!
  12. I did my brake pipes and hand brake cables with the engine and box in too.
  13. Robin, Thanks again for taking the time out to show me around. I hope you and Al both make it to the UK at some point so I can return the favour! Anyone else who is visiting Toronto, or getting close like I did should try and get to the museum, they have an impressive collection of vehicles you won't see in the UK. Chris
  14. Replacement military rear cross members are cheap and readily available - I put one on my old lightweight. Don't scrap the chassis if that's the only issue.
  15. I'm sure the packs would have gone through UK Surplus, they were tendering loads of them back when they were doing the Bulldog conversion. They have probably been at Hamptons since 2007 ish. UK Surplus lost the contract and closed down. Hamptons, like all the scrap dealers, bought lots from Withams over the years. Chris
  16. They are a scrap metal dealer, looks like most of it came from Withams!
  17. Fire away with the screw driver!
  18. Spartan looks and sounds well Tim... Especially the front track guards! I have the same problem with the seat! Chris
  19. Looks good Al, you need to get them all lined up for a photo shoot...
  20. Hi Wanye... nice to see you here. 1) post some photos 2) post a wanted list! Chris
  21. The normal noise is a buzz, that's more of a rumble. Could well be a clutch issue as it does go away when the clutch is engaged. Maybe a loose clutch shoe or something like that ? Chris

They didn't make many Shielders, so I'm not sure what they would do if they had a big order!
  23. Take all the louvres off first, then get someone else to help you lift the top off. I find it easiest to stand in the drivers hatch and lift it from there while someone lifts it from the front. It can be tricky to get over the front due to the periscope mounts etc which stick out underneath...A forklift, or engine crane would make it easier! A piece of wood on the radiator will stop you damaging the core.
  24. Drill a hole in the corner of each compartment, you'll need a good drill bit but it's not too hard. The essential tools for CVRT restoration are a pressure washer, wet vacuum cleaner and plenty of marine clean from frosts! Suck the muddy water out first then get cracking with the marine clean!
