  1. The one on milweb looks ok. A nice project anyway. You can get all the panels, Malcolm Scott makes good reproductions, so the bodywork isn't an issue as long as you have the time. Chris
  2. Remember these are not normal Land Rovers, they're the Snatch variant which were designed for use in Northern Ireland. They're getting much more use & abuse and attacked by worse things than they were ever designed for on current operations. It could be worse, the squaddies could be driving round in Hummers with some plate welded over the doors. I wonder how many people were killed in those kind of improvised vehicles in the same period?
  3. My friend in the REME says that the REME vehicles are always the neglected ones. Too much time spent fixing everyone else vehicles, not enough time to fix your own. I guess the same goes for our MVs. Too much time spent fixing them, no time left to fix our everyday cars. Also at the end of the day, if you have a choice of something interesting or a car to work on at the weekend, the interesting vehicle wins every time! Chris
  4. I did look into buying an engine from a scrap Jag, but there are quite a lot of detail differences. I think you could put one in there, and it would run ok, but I don't know how long it would last. The compression ratios etc would all be different. Most people who own CVRTs have a few spare engines as you can't tell when and if they're going to go. It's usually possible to make a good one out of a couple of take outs, if you have the time. Chris
  5. Who ever buys it needs a session with a grease gun
  6. It doesn't only look like a Spartan, it is a Spartan and the advert states this. As for Jaguar engines being plentiful, have you tried to buy one which works?! True there were a lot of take outs, but 99% of them have something wrong with them. I have had 10 J60 engines, only 1 of them had nothing wrong with it. The rest have ranged from missing components, broken mountings & head gasket failures to holes in pistons and total seizures. Chris
  7. You do have rather a lot of KBs David! :-) Chris
  8. Paul, The radios go on the other side of the dexion, the bracket looks similar, but not the same. http://www.militaryrover.34sp.com/radpage0001.html Chris

  10. The Scorpions in the middle pic are Scimitars.
  11. Lee, Are you sure it's not this one? http://www.warandpeaceshow.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=73&Itemid=88888946 Chris
  12. The vehicle in the photo is the 432 with a wooden turret they use for tank rides at Beltring. I bet it's the only photo they could find!
  13. That wouldn't be the GMC advertised on P29 of this months Military Machines would it?
  14. Mark, I heard they were going to auction off a load of trucks over in Germany quite soon. My guess is they'll go through here http://www.vebeg.de/web/en/start/index.htm Chris
  15. Mark, He should know by know if he's won it or not! Chris
  16. Simon, I had some a few months back, advertised them on here but no interest. They're all sold now. They do turn up from time to time. You can get the night vision goggles, but the lenses on the 432 were designed to be used with the sight in the auction. Chris
  17. Dave, Sometimes it's the day after the sale, more often it's a couple of days later. If you've not heard by Friday then you probably didn't get it. You can of course phone up and ask if you won anything, they will also be able to tell you what things went for if you ask. Chris
  18. This is the first tender sale I've missed since 2003 when they started. Anyone got some decent photos of the other AFVs, spares etc? Cheers, Chris
  19. I think Andy has one..... http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/lsm/dhmg/andjef2.html Chris
  20. Simon, The User Handbook for the Mk 2 has a section on the Wombat (Mobat?) installation. Chris
  21. It should be shown in the parts book on the brakes page.
  22. Whoever picked the material for the seats needs new glasses.
  23. Yes CVRTs do suffer from corrosion quite badly, and the armour can delaminate. Andys Striker almost has a hole in it at one place where it has corroded badly. The floor in my Sabre is quite corroded too, especially the earting points. Just because it's Aluminium doesn't mean it won't corrode. Chris

    Rubber

They stop the chassis from rubbing a hole through the tub, and absorb any vibrations etc. I'd put them back in if I were you! Chris
