  1. Bitterly cold down in Somerset this weekend but we started to ramp up the strip down of the body. All the wings, fuel and oil holders are now off and the U bolts are off. We are planning to jack prop the body just a little higher and then simply push the lorry out. In doing this we can get much batter access to rubbing down the chassis and also we can replace the rotten cross members and the complete floor on the body.
  2. I like the timber work. We had to rebuild a lot of the body on our 1950 Commer and I can appreciate the work put into this.
  3. That's really good to see Keith. I am just in the process of determining what marking we will use on our Commer.
  4. I love the improvised radiator, its all looking good.
  5. I have bought cheap replacement coils from ebay, gone through 2 before I bit the bullet and bought a proper replacement from a well known vintage supplier. So yes go for replacements but be wary when it comes to price and quality.
  6. Reading through the article I did wonder what the 50 Rare vehicles are?
  7. Better option than trying to store the complete aircraft!!
  8. This old thread is superb, I have so many Commer photos but this one I have not seen before.
  9. That second alternative really does make sense, running a small bead pre weld to lessen the angle is a great bit of advise. So simple yet I can see its advantage.
  10. I think our hobby is a great learning process. Both trial and error on our parts and using advice from friends on the forum.
  11. Things are moving along slowly, mainly due to work and the awful weather we are having. Will be adding some more pics this week.
  12. Yes, I have a strong feeling many museums simply won't cope with the fallout from Covid. Likewise I think we will loose lots of shows to its financial inpact too.
  13. The chassis looks to be in very good condition?
  14. That's a challenge, but on the plus side it is good patterns to use. Time consuming and complicated. But it will be worth it.
  15. That is a superb little truck.
  16. I don't think its the same Guy, there are differences between the vehicles.
  17. Small business rate relief banding changed to 100% at £15k a few years back. Our unit has a rateable value of £9k and we had to pay rates each year, we dont now and unless the banding changes again will probably never have to again. We were always told its building not what goes on in there.
  18. After a few beers we'd all agree on anything.
  19. It does make sense now Richard. But, upon taking it apart you could see this was a very old fix so this was done a long time ago, I would imagine previous owners must have had trouble too.
  20. Its lovely seeing the original fittings and the way it was actually constructed. Glad to hear the notes are being kept and a good photographic record.
