  2. Chris, isnt that actually you rebuilding a Spartan!!! Very cool, thanks for the link R
  3. Regarding the 432s that Withams are selling with the baskets and the cranes on the side, does anyone have any pictures of the cranes (which are missing) in operation? Why are the baskets fitted with sloped sides rather than vertical sides? R
  4. Anyone operate a Mk1 with the petrol engine? What shortfalls or pitfalls should one know about? Anything to improve it? R
  5. I was very lucky to receive, amongst other things, a 70th Anniversary Daisy 650 shot Red Ryder BB gun! Truly a legend in North America made famous in the movie A Christmas Story set in middle America in the 1950s. With a muzzle velocity of 350 feet per second it has a punch to it! R
  6. Video is no longer there. R
  7. Is there any recorded provenance of these in military service? R
  8. Hmm Land Rovers in 1:48 scale! This the bug sucker or airplane scale, so they are making them an add on for a diorama with rotary or fixed wing. If they were really serious for the tread head or armour / softskin modeller then they would be in 1:35 or even 1:24 scale. Ho hum R
  9. I am a big fan of both silver solder and brazing, both under used these days as the skill sets are being lost. They are both fantastically strong if done properly as shown in this thread and a perfect use of the process. Those around me often make fun of me using such methods but then gawp in awe at the end result, as I am doing at your work gents, magnificent. R
  10. "it's a lot less bovver with an hover" R
  11. I know extreme has one and we have one, any others around? R
  12. A few of us out here have bought what we believed to be caps for the smoke grenade dischargers on vehicles like Ferrets and CVR W + T. They are usually off eblag. Anyhow, in the pictures they look exactly right but in the hand they dont fit., they are too large by only a bit but enough. The big visual difference we have found is the right ones are a shiny rubber the others dull. The wrong ones have an FV 794619 number in them. Anyone know what we have? R
  13. Look what he dropped off! Sorry about the quality R
  14. Thank you gents. will have to find where its leaking from. . . . R
  15. I may be stupd. . . but humour me, what fluid does it take please and any tricks to getting it in? R
  16. Phil, Im awa from home base for a few days but I think I have a full Mk3 manual on cd rom given to me by a friend. I can copy it and pitch it in the mail to you, or I could try sending by email but fear file sizes are huge. R
  17. Dave, you have done a wonderful job of such a dog of an old kit. Will you be weathering it at all? R
  18. Isnt it grand to know that original examples of what we supposed to be extinct items such as Foxes are actually still in the system and in captivity. Expect to see that come through Withams in 10 years time? 01 GM 32 from what I remember served in the Berlin brigade, I will have to dig up some info on that one. Thanks for posting, nice Engessa 6 X 6 or at least what I think is one outside in the parking lot. What is the curious FWAL marking on some of the kit and whats with the sleek boat, spill the beans chum, tell us more. R
  19. Thanks for the reply Richard, NOW I understand. regards Robin
  20. Dear RCT(V), could you expound and or explain your interest in the turrets etc etc pls R
  21. Richard, I dont doubt your reply, as I am in awe of your knowledge, as always. Can you explain how that is so obvious, so I can understand the convention of what you know. R
  22. Gents and Gals, I'm making up a slave cable with interchangeable ends with a quick disconnect. The purpose is to start some British MVs arriving soon (hint, hint). I need to be able to use spring loaded clips onto a civvy 24v vehicle or pack and also slave the two between each other once off the vessel. My need is to know which of the inner or outer connections in the head shown below is the positive and which is negative so my new connections are right. Im sure there is a simple way to know but my tiny pea brain is somewhat befuddled! Anyone know please? R
  23. Holy Toledo Chubster! That is quite the "bling" of radio kit mounted in there! Is there any provenance on how you have mounted some of that kit? I am amazed at the upside down mounted units. A total of four antenae, what are they connected to? Could you explain a bit more what is there and how it all works? R
