  1. Just trying to make sure these numbers ring true, sorry about the quality of the pics but we left the good camera behind today and had to resort to phone pics. The issue I have is the hull plate is crudely welded in unlike some others I have seen, This scares me. The data plate has the same army registration number 05 CC 29, my question is does the hull number and date ring true. She, "Phillipa", used to be my Ferret years ago and was sold to my "friend", who is now my boss. She has not had as much use as we would like. We have sorted out some newly acquired heated dry vermin free storage, she has been liberated from the previous storage building to join the other one already there. We gave her some TLC today having pulled her over with the tractor as she was a no start. We pulled the escape hatches off and vacuumed her out and pulled the batteries and filled the cells up and charged them fully and slave started her off the Supacat in the shop. The reason for slave starting was to relieve the pressure on the batteries as we knew she might take a few attempts to start. She started second time around and warmed up nicely having done fluid checks prior. She the moved under her own power the 7 kilometres down the road to her new home. Pretty sweet actually to get both the collection's Ferrets in the same heated garage. They will both be run up weekly now and will be much more happy and better preserved. Now we can work on the minor bits and pieces. Robin
  2. Buy a runner and enjoy it and tinker with it, the second one should be the basket case R
  3. Yowser! do you see how much rubber he laid down trying to get that all stopped? Bet he wont make it to full screw in the next 12 months! Poor bugger, glad no loss of life or injury except to ego ( I presume ) Im guessing someone will make the decision as to whether it gets CAST or rebuilt. My money will be a rebuild, if not see it at Withams in a few months. Thoughts R
  4. Very good effort there mate. Perhaps I'm showing my age but . . . there used to be a 1/35 scale kit from Italeri of a S3 109" that if used with the Tamiya series 2A gave you a wealth of combination choices. These were the basis of articles done just a few years ago by Bob Morrison. regards Robin ex IPMS Ottawa Canada
  5. One friend of mine is a one third share owner of an aircraft. Aircraft have a nasty habit of being bought by such partners and having hours of work done and appreciating in value. Once they have gained that higher value and one of the partners dies, the other two old codgers can't afford to buy his share from the widow who wants premium dollar. The solution my buddy has with his two partners is that they have a legal agreement that sees the share of the dying member being split equally with the other two surviving old goats. So the same happens again when the next old goat pegs it, and the last man standing now owns the plane. This is quite a common way of sorting part ownership in aircraft over here and is well recongised and legal. Robin
  6. We are "toying" with the idea of one, we have been looking to see what use we have for that system. I know someone has the improved version and I know someone else was converting an MMLC to a wrecker, but are there any MMLC out there at the minute? Anyone know what a complete running to tidy one is worth on the UK market and what do the flatracks go for. Any comments about these vehicles is welcome. Robin
  7. I expect some good ones for this picture, the two in blue are the Chief of Police and his 2ic . . . . R
  8. My decision, WOA2 Robert Davey wins. Judges decision final, it made us laugh the most! pm me your postal details No 010 going up soon R
  9. I have a spot with many layers of paint fused together and want to down through the layers and expose markings, thats what Im on about. I think I will dry sand with 1000 grit by hand and take my chances R
  10. I am about to start rubbing down the paint on one of my Ferrets, and there it is likely that markings lie under the paint. Any suggested methods of exposing them and saving them for rebuild time? R
  11. What a Godsend! I managed to get in on the orbit one. Thanks guys R
  12. I have never ending problems getting onto MLU. both home and work computers wont allow me to go there 99% of the time, at least thats what I thought it was. R
  13. STOP PRESS, breaking news, owing to a bungling order desk at a UK business, I will be awarding a region 2 edition DVD of Blott on the Landscape that was sent to us in error recently. As Christmas is approaching and Canada Post is slower than molasses, if you get picked as the winner of this one we will pop it in the post to the winner at our expense. So, enter away, and soon. R
  14. I'm sure others with more experience of running Foxes will tell you more clearly but I can tell what others have said, that blowing the exhaust apart from raw fuel igniting is a real occurence and more fun than you need. I have found on "no start" occasions to stop and leave it for a day to clear and start all over again using less if any choke. I think Lee has posted various items on his fuel pumps etc. I suspect that cranking a few times from cold with no choke will actually get fuel up through the system. I deeply suspect that it drains back down between usage. More when we get ours running again. R
  15. Laurence, could you please post some pictures of how you have or do make them? Im hoping we can all learn something from what you are doing. Robin
  16. This our Bv206 supporting a local unit exercise in the casevac role. The vehicle stays with the troops exercising on the ground as it is easier to make the one way trip out rather than assume that the troops will have good comms down to the OPS biv site and then deploy out to the grid. Some times it does troop lifts and the occasional recovery when the RSM dumps the Milcots in the ditch. R
  17. After trawling the archives, I thought this would be something to set your sights on. R
  18. The winner, by a photo finish, and a hair's length, is antarmike. Chitty to be excused doing the sunday lunch dishes for a month on its way to Mike. No 009 being launched now R
  19. SSSShhhhhh they be anti +*&%$# thingies, OPSEC dont you know. R
  20. Its all relative isnt it really! For those in the UK what they consider "cold" is "warm" to us! Coldest I have experienced so far was minus 42 degrees celsius and I didn't have to go far from here for that. What I like about winter is the sounds, squeeky snow being a favourite R
  21. Awwww jeeee shucks, you boys getting a bit cold are you? Bah humbug! Wait until it gets really cold, when you can breathe in through your nostrils and they stick together! Then come back to me! R
  22. Here you go kids, lets hear your caption for this one R
  23. As the dictator of this thread I declare Mark aka chevpol the winner, others were very good. No 008 going up in a few minutes R
  24. On my list of esoteric equipment that I wish to own, candidates such as a Muir Hill loader backhoe and the Eager Beaver are up there but after seeing one of these AND the scraper bowl that goes with it at Tobyhanna in Pensylvania around '97 I fell in love for one. Understand your joy for it and admire the craftmanship involved in sorting it out. Sadly after just buying some land for a future house im kinda skint this week, oh yes dont forget I bought a pair of Ferrets over the winter! Will GMAC do financing on it? R
  25. Wow, what a wonderfully different piece you have and a grand job. Were you a tractor or military vehicle person first? What about a mower to go with it? Welcome to the forum, I like different pieces, very cool. Thanks Robin
